  • Doctor’s Cave beach in Montego Bay is a sandy stretch lined with amenities and hotels making it a great option for those looking for a lively spot with easy access to everything. Things to see in Jamaica

From the natural sights and jaw dropping heights, to museums, galleries, and legend’s homes, Jamaica holidays really do offer it all.

  • Standing 960ft tall, the Dunn’s River Falls is a magnificent sight. Trek up the rocks, swim in the river, or even zipline over the falls. There’s a perfect balance of modern facilities with natural and rustic charm making for a great family day out.
  • The Reggae Style Mayfield Falls is not far from Negril, where you can experience the thrill of the waterfalls and natural pools, take a dip and capture impressive pictures. It’s less modernised than Dunn’s River Falls so can be great for keen nature lovers and you can opt for a guided tour, or take it at your own pace.
  • For culture enthusiasts, head straight to the famous Bob Marley museum (AKA his house!) in Kingston. Turned into a museum by his wife in the late 1980s to showcase his personal treasures and the striking 19th Century architecture, it’s a great sight and there’s plenty to learn.

Food and drink in Jamaica

Jamaican cuisine is a rich blend of African, European and Asian influences, resulting in powerful flavours, bold spices and fresh ingredients.

  • Jerk chicken is arguably the most famous dish in Jamaica – and most well-known. It’s often served with rice and peas or fried dumplings.
  • Goat curry is a popular Jamaican meal often served for special celebrations. The goat meat is slow cooked in a flavourful curry sauce combining garlic, pimento, scotch bonnet peppers and more to create a tender and delicious dish.
  • Rum Punch, the Caribbean classic, is a must try. Made with Jamaican rum, lime juice, sugar, and bitters, sip away at a beach bar or party or even poolside for the ultimate refreshing drink.

Our favourite things about Jamaica

Sophie's favourite thing about Jamaica:

“Bamboo rafting on the Martha Brae River is a must! The whole experience was surreal – even just driving up the winding roads to get to the river was exciting. We picked up some drinks on the way so we were just peacefully sipping on an ice cold beer whilst floating gently down the river, learning about the wildlife and fruit trees surrounding us.”

Best time to go to Jamaica

Jamaica enjoys warm tropical temperatures throughout the year, making it a dreamy destination for whenever you want to go. The best time to go depends on whether you’re looking for perfect beach weather, fewer crowds or the lowest prices.

If you’re after the hot temperatures and the most reliable sunshine, December to April is usually the best time to visit. Temperatures are typically between 28°C and 31°C, with very little rainfall, making it ther perfect time for sun-drenched beach days, sightseeing and outdoor adventures.
