Do I need a visa for the Dominican Republic?

You won't need a visa to visit the Dominican Republic, but if you're planning a holiday there it's a requirement to get a tourist card.

How do I get a tourist card for the Dominican Republic?

The easiest way to obtain a tourist card is to apply online at the Dominican Embassy before you leave the UK. The current cost of the tourist card is £11.50, although this is subject to change.

If you don't apply for a tourist card in advance before leaving the UK, you can make an application when you land at the airport in the Dominican Republic. Be aware that there may be queues to get a tourist card, so ensure you give yourself plenty of time.

How long is the Dominican Republic tourist card valid for?

Tourist cards are valid for 30 days, and if you want to stay on the island for longer you will have to pay for an extension of your documentation.

Will I need any other documentation for Dominican Republic?

Of course, you must ensure that your passport is valid and will remain so until the time of your departure from the Dominican Republic.

Travelling in groups

If you are under 18 you don't need a visa or written permission from your parents to travel, as long as you are entering and leaving the country with the same person or people. If a group of 13 to 18 year-olds are travelling together with no-one over the age of 18, written authorisation is still not required from the parents, as long as the group remains the same on arrival and departure.
