Do a little island-hopping
Cap Cana is perfectly positioned for boat trips that set sail to surrounding islands. These include Isla Saona, Isla de Mona and Isla Catalina. Most tours last for around half a day, so there’s plenty of time to appreciate these little troves of tranquility. Isla Saona is a true escape from it all, with a remote white-sand beach and crystal-clear waters that were just made for snorkelling and spotting colourful tropical fish.

Visit between January and April for the chance to see these phenomenal creatures at their best, as more than 300 whales arrive off the coast at this time of the year to breed. Take a boat trip to Samana Bay for the best chance of spotting these majestic mammals.
As well as looking out for whales, you get to enjoy some stunning scenery as you make your way across the sea. Some boat trips also provide traditional Dominican food for lunch, making for the ideal all-round experience.
