Keep reading to find out how you can bag yourself a bargain break to the Caribbean…

Pick Your Island Carefully

Did you know, there are around 700 Caribbean islands? Only some of these are safe to travel to, and of the ones we can take you to, you’ll find they all differ from one another when it comes to their vibe, and of course the cost!

For a cheap, all inclusive holiday to the Caribbean, the island of Cuba has some fantastic deals, and usually comes out as the cheapest of the Caribbean resorts. When considering the cost of your holiday, you not only need to look at your package price but also how much things cost when you’re there. Even if you choose an all inclusive resort, you’ve travelled so far across the world, you should definitely take the opportunity to explore your chosen island.

Cuba is known for having delicious local restaurants but luckily these don’t have to come at a huge cost. Eating in locally run restaurants is a great way to immerse yourself in an authentic Caribbean experience and dishes in these spots are usually priced lower than in chain restaurants. It’s also very rewarding to dine in a local restaurant as you know you’re supporting a local family.

Natural Beauty

Another way to keep the costs down is to enjoy everything the island has to offer when it comes to natural sights and attractions. Beautiful beaches with soft white sand and bright blue water are found around what feels like every corner when it comes to Caribbean islands. Having fun with your family on holiday doesn’t have to cost the earth and beaches offer hours of entertainment for the whole family. Kids can enjoy building sandcastles or digging to see if they can find buried treasure, while adults can enjoy a good book or a paddle in the inviting waters.

Along with the stunning palm tree lined beaches, there are a wide range of national parks to explore in the Caribbean. Many of the islands have national parks, however some have a lot more than others. The likes of Jamaica and St Lucia only have one national park each, but their smaller numbers don’t mean their natural spaces are any less mighty! Cuba has so many national parks to choose from, which helps to make this island one of the cheaper Caribbean spots to visit.

Best Times To Go

As with many beach holiday destinations, the Caribbean islands have a high and low season, and sometimes when you choose to travel when there’s less tourists, you can get yourself a better deal. The high season runs roughly from mid-December through mid-April, and the low season runs from June through November.

One thing to consider when looking to travel during low season is what facilities might be available to you and your family. If the island you choose to visit is used to not having many visitors at a certain time of year, then things like restaurants, bars and other tourist attractions may close for a short while.

Because of their tropical location, the Caribbean islands have a hurricane season. Though you’re not necessarily advised to avoid the islands during hurricane season, which is 1st June to 30th November, the period of highest risk is between mid-August and early October so be aware you might get a few rainy spells! Don’t worry though, there’s always a bar or even a spa to take cover in.

Book In Advance

Although you can often grab yourself a bargain when you book a last minute holiday, with prices on the rise and purse strings becoming tighter, booking in advance can often put your mind at ease. Booking earlier means you have more months until your holiday, so if you’re wanting to split your holiday payments then the more months there are until your final payment, the smaller each payment will be!

Throughout the year, we also have some great discount codes that are auto-applied to your holiday if it qualifies for the discount. Booking in advance means you have the time to wait and see if there’s going to be a great discount coming up that can help you save some pennies.

Plan Your Transport

When you’re on holiday, it can be really tempting to get a taxi wherever you’re going, especially if you’re not familiar with the area. But this is one way to see your final holiday bill rack up a significant price! With a little help from your trust friend Google, or even the hotel reception, it can be really easy to work out the public transport links that will get you from A to B at the fraction of the cost of a taxi.

Depending on where you’re wanting to visit when you reach your chosen Caribbean island, it could also be easier to walk instead of getting public transport! Thanks to the natural and secluded nature of the islands, you won’t find many main roads in the Caribbean, or anything that looks like a motorway in this country! Because of this, getting a taxi or bus somewhere might not be as easy as it sounds. Winding, dusty roads give you the chance to take in some beautiful scenery, but if you want to get to your destination as quickly as possible, grab your shades and a bottle of water and set off on foot!

Odd Durations

A known hack in the travel industry, whether you’re travelling to the Caribbean or somewhere closer to home like Europe, is that picking an odd duration for your holiday is a great way to bag yourself a deal. Choosing to go away for 8, 11 or even 13 nights is much more unusual than a 7, 10 or 14 day holiday. Because of this, it can help to save you some money on your holiday but doesn’t affect your enjoyment!

Caribbean Cruisin’

Finding it hard to pick a Caribbean island? Then you don’t have to! Why not consider a beautiful Caribbean cruise, and that way, you can tick off a number of dreamy islands in one go? We have a fantastic selection of Marella Cruises on offer, just give our helpful team a call on 0204 578 0977 and they can get you booked and ready to set sail in no time.

One of our favourite Caribbean cruises is Paradise Islands, setting sail on the beautiful Marella Explorer 2. It’s a 7 night, all inclusive cruise which departs from Bridgetown, Barbados, and hops to the islands of Dominica, Antigua, St Kitts, St Maarten, British Virgin Islands and back to Barbados. You’ll get the chance to ‘hop off’ at each stop and explore the beautiful islands, meaning you can visit 6 beautiful Caribbean islands all in one holiday.

Did you know, you can also add a ‘Cruise and Stay’ option to your cruise package? As your flights and transfers are already included in your cruise cost, you can take advantage of this and choose to stay in the port country before or after your cruise. This means you’ve got even more time to soak up some sunshine and explore more of what the Caribbean has to offer.
