Haggle Your Way to a Bargain in the Bazaars of Dalaman

The town of Dalaman is predominantly a connection point for travellers to Turkish coastal resorts such as Marmaris, Icmeler and Fethiye. The nearest resort is Gocek, a charming little fishing village a few miles east of Dalaman, with a port crammed with yachts bobbing in the water. Marmaris is one of the larger resorts in the Dalaman holiday region, which sprawls across a natural bay at the foot of forested mountain slopes.

There is a lively nightlife in Marmaris with a large selection of late night bars and nightclubs. Shopping in the local bazaars you may be able to haggle your way to a bargain, particularly in jewellery and leather goods.

It's unlikely that you'll struggle to find your favourite type of food in the Dalaman region, with a vast selection of restaurants offering everything from traditional Turkish delicacies to good old fish and chips. The beaches in the Dalaman region lead down to warm turquoise waters that are very inviting for a dip on hot, sunny days.

Icmeler is the smaller neighbour of Marmaris, lying just along the coast this quiet resort is more focussed on relaxation and enjoyment of the warm sea and shingly sand beaches. The nightlife in Icmeler is relatively low-key although there are plenty of bars and good restaurants in which to wile away the hours. The countryside around Icmeler is full of greenery and is a pleasant place to take a stroll.

Attractions of the Dalaman Region

Holidays in the Dalaman region have all sorts of water sports available, particularly in the larger resorts, including scuba diving, parasailing, jet skiing and the ever-popular banana boat rides.

The water park near Marmaris is a great day out for families. But Dalaman region holidays have their cultural and historical aspects too.
