Where is Hot in June?

June is the start of the summer season in northern hemisphere and the thermometers are going skyward as we fly south. Here are five destinations to help you choose your cheap holiday in June. The Euro is on the rise now hovering around the €1.21 mark, so now is the time to book.

Spain

Several Spanish destinations can provide an answer to the question ‘where is hot in June?’, from the mainland to the Spanish Balearics and Canary Islands, there’ll be something to suit you and your budget. Want to jet-off on an action-packed holiday? Then head to the Costa Dorada coast, home to the PortAventura theme park, not to mention some truly beautiful beaches.

Recommended day trips include the train to Barcelona to see the capital of Catalonia and sample some sangria and tapas, as well as the spectacular landmarks such as The Sagrada Famila.

If you want something a bit more upmarket head further south to Marbella in the Costa Del Sol, which is known for its snazzy shops, glamour and beaches.

Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza have a short flight time from the UK and are great for families as well as older groups.

Malaga City

Canary Islands

The Canary Islands can sometimes be slightly cooler than the Balearics during June due to the breeze off the Atlantic Ocean, but on average you’ll be looking at temperatures of 23°C compared to 27°C in Majorca. Tenerife has great nightlife, Fuerteventura has stunning beaches, Lanzarote is top notch for families and Gran Canaria is a mash-up of all three.

Turkey

Last year Turkey was our top selling destination for short haul holidays and is split into four regions. Antalya is known as the Turkish Rivera, where you will find the delights of the upmarket resorts such as Belek and Lara Beach and most hotels are All Inclusive luxury resorts.

Marmaris is popular for hotels that offer a wide range of board basis, from Room Only through to All Inclusive, there is plenty of choice for a range of budgets.

Will Turkey continue to dominate as the most popular destination for the second year running?

Greece

Everyone loves a Greek island, as each one is a gem in its own right, whether you’re looking for outstanding scenery, history, nightlife or something else, you will find it on holidays in Greece.

The larger islands such as Crete and Rhodes are excellent for family beach holidays. Greece is home to many incredible ancient sites and museums such as the Acropolis of Lindos, on the island of Rhodes.

For those who just want nothing more than to relax with a drink in-hand and bask in the hot sunshine, Santorini and Halkidiki are two of the best options.

Bulgaria

Remaining popular as ever, the 378km coastline of Bulgaria is excellent value for money. The resort of Sunny Beach is a major holiday destination on the Black Sea coast, and has brilliant prices for all board bases with holidays starting from as little as £206 in June for 7 nights with flight and accommodation (Correct as of 13/05/14 13:45).

Sunny Beach has over 600 cafes, restaurants and bars. With a pint of beer costing around 50p, you won’t need too much spending money.
