A destination still underrated by many, Cape Verde remains firmly on our favourite list with a 169% increase in bookings compared to 2017. Tucked away in the mid-Atlantic, you’ll find its cluster of isles serving up pristine beaches, sweeping deserts and year-round sunshine, here you can take your pick between main resorts Boa Vista and Sal. Offering a viable alternative to the Caribbean, reachable in a fraction of the flight time yet boasting temperatures just as high, there’s no wonder visitors return.

Croatia

319% YoY increase in bookings

Croatia is one of the fastest growing destinations in popularity amongst British travellers, with bookings up a huge 319% this year. Of course being an ideal festival location and having a picturesque backdrop for the TV hit Game of Thrones has had an impact, however Europe’s sunny spot and its haven of hidden gems are popular for many reasons. From strikingly shaped beaches to the world’s most atmospheric Roman ruins. Plus it’s super easy to get to.

226% YoY increase in bookings

Despite its recent instability Egypt is back to steal the limelight as holidaymakers return in good numbers. We’ve seen bookings increase a massive 226% this year and with constant sunshine, ancient history and the Red Sea’s spectacular scuba diving spot, we can’t question its popularity. 2019 is expected to be another big year as Hurghada and Marsa Alam open shiny new hotels and introduce more flying routes making them both more accessible than ever.

161% YoY increase in bookings

It comes as no surprise that Italy has been welcoming masses of tourists for centuries, but this year in particular has seen a large spike in bookings with a 161% increase. The prime hotspot being the Neapolitan Riviera region thanks to its Mediterranean beauty Amalfi and sophisticated seaside town Sorrento. We also saw the addition of Calabria holidays this summer- with this sun-drenched, natural beauty we can only expect Italy’s popularity to keep on rising.

168% YoY increase in bookings

Sitting proudly on the Caribbean Sea and rightly so, Jamaica continues to impress holidaymakers and has bagged the title of our most popular long-haul destination of 2018. Bookings have nearly doubled this year which comes as no surprise with its unique combo of paper-white beaches, ramshackle reggae bars and feel-good vibes. While its white sands are certainly alluring, its natural beauty also contributes to its popularity. With hidden waterfalls, banana plantations and soaring mountains, it’s clear to see why.
