What is there to do in Cancun?

There’s plenty to do beyond your all inclusive resort, whether you’re after adventure, history, watersports or a change of scenery.

Most of Cancun’s all inclusive hotels sit along the Caribbean coast, with soft white sand and clear, warm water at their doorstep. You can simply relax on the beach or get involved with snorkelling, paddleboarding, kayaking and parasailing.

For something a little more adventurous, head to one of the area’s cenotes. These natural swimming holes were formed in limestone and are a brilliant way to cool off while exploring a very different side of Mexico.

History fans can visit El Rey, an ancient Mayan site right in Cancun’s Hotel Zone, or take a trip further afield to the impressive ruins of Chichén Itzá. It’s a great way to swap a day by the pool for a glimpse into Mexico’s fascinating past.

You can also hop on a boat to Isla Mujeres, where you can spend the day exploring beaches, snorkelling in the clear Caribbean waters or wandering around the island’s colourful streets.

For families, there are plenty of waterparks, wildlife experiences and adventure parks around Cancun and the Riviera Maya. And when the sun goes down, Cancun comes alive with restaurants, bars, beach clubs and famous nightclubs.
