Mexico has some fascinating architectural sites and it would be a shame not to visit at least one whilst you are here. The famous Mayan pyramids and Chichen Itza are two of the most popular, and if you are anywhere near Mexico City on your Mexico holidays, the ancient capital of Teotihuacan is definitely worth a look.

Did you know? Mexican children do not receive presents on Christmas Day. They receive gifts on January 6, the day on which Mexicans celebrate the arrival of the Three Wise Men.

Things to do on Mexico Holidays

Cancun

On the Caribbean coast, Cancun is a favourite destination on holidays to Mexico. Life revolves around the beach and its water sports by day and lives up to a lively reputation by night.

Chichen Itza

Chichen Itza is a major tourist attraction located in the centre of the Yucatan Peninsula. Full of fine examples of Mayan architecture, with ‘El Castillo’ (the castle), or step pyramid, perhaps the most iconic structure of them all.

Acapulco

Over on the Pacific coast, Acapulco is one of Mexico’s oldest and most well known beach resorts, often frequented by Hollywood stars in the 50’s. Although less popular these days you are still likely to see the daredevil divers plunging into Acapulco Bay from the cliffs high above, a tradition which first started in the 1930’s.

Cozumel

Lying just off the coast of Mexico in the Caribbean Sea, the island of Cozumel is awash with rich history. Add to this some pretty amazing beaches, world famous dive sites and evenings that heat up as the sun cools down and you’ve pretty much got Cozumel all sussed out.

Riviera Maya

Soft white sands backed by low lying jungle give the Riviera Maya region of Mexico a very tropical feel. Water sports compete for your attention at every turn and the spectacular Maya Reef lurks just offshore for those discerning scuba divers amongst you.
