Top Package Holidays For Single Parents

Being a single parent shouldn’t be a barrier to you jetting off abroad with your kids to enjoy a magical holiday together. After all, you work so hard to look after your children, you deserve it! But sometimes, we understand it can be a little daunting knowing where to pick for your single parent holiday, as you want to ensure the destination has everything you need and makes your holiday a breeze.

Here’s some of our top package holidays for single parents…

Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria is a fantastic location as it boasts beautiful weather all year round. If you’re not tied to school holidays, you can enjoy a gorgeous beach holiday here, even when it’s grey and gloomy back at home. Puerto Rico is a great town to choose, and it actually gets more sunlight than anywhere else on the island so it’s definitely a great place to visit if you’re a sun worshipper!

Puerto Rico has some beautiful outdoor spots to enjoy, but there’s two standout beaches that we can’t help but mention. Amadores Beach is a firm favourite, and there’s no surprise this place has gained a blue flag award. It boasts 800 metres of golden sands, and there’s plenty of watersports on offer. The horseshoe-shaped beach makes for the perfect beach view so you can relax comfortably knowing you can keep an eye on the kids if they’re taking a splash in the waters.  Another sandy spot that’s worth a mention is Puerto Rico Beach, based in the centre of the town. This spot is lined by bars, tropical gardens and 2 public swimming pools, so when the kids have burned off steam on the sands, refreshments aren’t too far away.

Besides the glorious sands, Puerto Rico is home to a whole host of family friendly attractions, which is why it’s a super popular resort for families. As a single parent, you want to ensure there’s plenty to keep the kids busy so you can enjoy some relaxation too. Some of the things you can add to your itinerary include a handful of mini golf courses, tennis courts and amusement arcades. There’s also Lago Taurito waterpark, which has corkscrews, kamikazes and an activity pool for tots, which is just 10 minutes away by hopping in a taxi. If you’re happy to venture a little further afield, we definitely recommend taking a trip to Sioux City, which is a theme park built on the site of a Wild West movie set!

Playa de las Americas, Tenerife

Tenerife is another spot that is a much loved destination by so many British holidaymakers. Just like Gran Canaria, this stunning Canary Island enjoys warm and sunny rays for a lot of the year meaning no matter when you’re due to travel, you can be sure to enjoy glorious weather. Playa de las Americas is one of the best resorts on Tenerife to visit, whether you’re a single parent family, a couple or on a friends trip. This area is bustling with restaurants, bars, shops and activities, so you’ll never struggle to find something to do!

Playa de las Americas is actually a purpose-built resort, which is why you can be confident you’ll always find the right spot for you and your family here, as everyone is catered to! Despite it being a popular place for partygoers, holidays to Playa de las Americas offer a whole host of things to do for families including the amazing Siam Park in nearby Costa Adeje. This water park is world-renowned and is a great place to spend a fun-filled day with your kids. Dotted around the park there’s plenty of sun loungers if you want to put your feet up while the kids splash around. There’s plenty of lifeguards too, so you can be sure they’ll be safe and looked out for while they’re whizzing down the slides.

As Playa de las Americas is a popular holiday destination for many, there’s a wide range of restaurants ticking off almost every cuisine! So, if your kids are fuss pots, or you’re all wanting to splash out on a nice meal for your last evening away together, you’ll definitely find the perfect spot to sit down and enjoy some delicious food together. A stand-out spot for us would be the Hard Rock Cafe Tenerife which serves up American classics from its rock-and-roll themed restaurant. If you’re craving a slice of home, head to Micky O’Malleys to enjoy a tasty full English or a warming Sunday Roast.

Rhodes, Greece

Thanks to its ‘not too far from home’ location, Greece is a staple holiday destination for families. In just a couple of hours you could be sunning yourself on a glorious beach with an all inclusive cocktail in one hand. But with so many islands to choose from, how do you decide where’s best for your next single parent family holiday? Don’t worry, we’ve got it covered!

Rhodes is a beautiful island, and is home to some of Greece’s most impressive archaeological sites. What better way to involve a bit of history in your holiday than encouraging the kids to explore the ancient ruins of Acropolis. The Lindos Acropolis stands tall at 116 metres above sea level and gives you a small insight into how this grand monument would have looked back in the day. There’s also stunning views out to see from there too, so there’ll be plenty of opportunities for family photos with amazing backdrops.

Your kids can also get close to nature in Rhodes, thanks to some quirky attractions. The Butterfly Valley is one of the most charming attractions in Rhodes, especially for children. A creek runs all the way through the forest surrounded valley, and is a great place for a cooling dip, especially in the hottest summer months. There are spots where you can rest along the way and enjoy a coffee, soft drinks or ice cream. The highlight is, of course, the thousands of butterflies that fill the valley during mid July and August. If flying creatures aren’t a hit with your kids, we know they’ll love swimming ones! Rhodes has a fantastic aquarium, Marine Aquarium, in the town. It is located in the basement of the Hydro-Biological Station of Rhodes and offers the visitors the chance to have a close up view of the marine life of the Eastern Mediterranean, and gives the impression of being underwater!

Costa Del Sol, Spain

Spain is always a hit with families! It’s a short flight from home, and has been welcoming British tourists for many years, so is well equipped to ensure you have a memorable and stress-free holiday. If you’re looking for something a little different to resorts like Benidorm, we recommend looking along the Costa Del Sol!

Spain’s south coast boasts toasty temperatures and a long list of beaches to enjoy under the glorious rays. Some of the most popular resorts along the Costa Del Sol for families are Torremolinos and Benalmadena. You can enjoy a whopping 300 sunny days a year here so no matter when you choose to visit, the sun will be waiting for you! If your kids need to burn off some steam, a great place to do this is Parque de La Batería, which is a beautiful landscaped park with views of the sea. The main attraction here is the artificial lake measuring more than 9,000 square metres, and you can hitch a ride on a rowing boat to take in a view of the park from the waters.

After all that excitement, you’ll need to refuel, and the best place to find delicious family friendly restaurants and bars is along the promenade. Of course, being a seafront attraction, the restaurants that line the promenade specialise in fish dishes, including some of the best fried fish in Malaga. But, if sea food isn’t your cup of tea, then don’t worry! There’s plenty of crowd pleasing spots serving up dishes to make even the fussiest of eaters smile.

Algarve, Portugal

As an alternative to Spain, Portugal is a great hit! The Algarve in South Portugal is a popular vacation destination for families, and for good reason. With its beautiful sunny weather, gorgeous beaches, and plenty of fun activities for kids and adults alike, it’s the perfect place for a family getaway. But where abouts in the Algarve is the best place for families you ask? Take your pick! There’s so many spots that cater for families and children, but here’s some of our favourites.

Quinta do Lago is an upscale resort area renowned for its luxurious amenities and breathtaking landscapes. It offers a range of family-friendly activities, from stunning beaches to water sports and kids clubs and so much more. Artur Watersports Academy is a fantastic water sports centre located at calm salt water lake Quinta do Lago, part of the nature Park Ria Formosa and the nearby Quinta do Lago beach. Both venues offer a great atmosphere for families with seasonal activities planned for kids.

If you and your kids love a waterpark, then Aqualand near Albufeira will definitely tick your boxes! Aqualand is one of Europe’s largest outdoor water parks and features a range of chutes and slides suitable for all ages. You’ll find this exciting waterpark between Albufeira and Lagoa it offers a variety of slides and features to keep you busy the entire day. The park is home to so many exciting rides suitable for adrenaline junkies and thrill seekers. The ‘Kamikaze’ is the biggest slide in Portugal measuring over 100ft (36m) high, it takes a mere 4 seconds to plummet to the bottom! Slightly less intimidating is the ‘Hydra’ a more traditional water chute with a long corkscrew section.
