Quiet and active beaches
As well as the relaxed pace, Obzor Beach is a popular destination for Bulgaria All Inclusive holidays, due to its stretch of superb sandy beaches. You’ll find wide open expanses of sand with gentle waves and shallow water where friends and families enjoy sunbathing and relaxing.
It’s also the ideal place for little ones to have some watery fun splashing about at the shoreline, plus there’s a bungee trampoline and six volleyball nets. In the water, activities range from pedalo to sailing and windsurfing.
If you’d like a really quiet spot with a bit more seclusion, you can head for an area known locally as Irakli Beach. This is a wild, natural stretch where you can claim your own place among the sand dunes and tall grasses – a perfect, peaceful spot to nap, read and totally escape. There’s also a promenade with benches where you can stroll along and pause to take in the superb sea views.
Join in the quiet buzz of the Obzor Beach village and piazza
You can easily blend your beach activities with some time spent in the village as they are just a few steps apart. The centre of Obzor Beach village has a friendly buzz and a pedestrian piazza with a large, decorative fountain.
This is the hub of the resort, surrounded with cafes, restaurants and bars where you might like to stop off during the day, or enjoy a fun night out in the evenings. You’ll find a good choice of dishes to try out here, from homemade traditional Bulgarian cuisine to juicy steaks and delicious pizzas. There are also some excellent local Bulgarian wines available, so it’s worth trying a glass or two to accompany your meal.
A wide range of activities
The village boasts several shops where you can browse for souvenirs, ceramics, jewellery and local handicrafts. There’s a striking clock tower in the centre and you’ll find several charming small chapels with interesting interiors to explore. Ancient Roman and Greek remains are dotted around the area, which you can walk around, including a small amphitheatre.
If you’d like to spend time under the shade of some greenery you can head for the local park, which lies between the beach and the central piazza. Known as ‘Palm Park’, it’s a cool, leafy space where you can have a well-earned snooze under a palm tree or enjoy a long, lazy holiday picnic.
If you’d like to up the pace of your holiday activities, be sure to take a trip to the nearby resort of Sunny Beach. Sunny Beach is a lively spot in the evenings and you can get in some serious shopping, or enjoy a selection of fun activities during the day. It’s just a 30-minute taxi ride away by road, or you could opt to sail along the coastline and get there by boat.
Explore neighbouring villages and the Black Sea coastline
Visitors are invited to take some interesting day trips from Obzor Beach, including boat trips along the Black Sea coast to neighbouring resorts. This will give you a chance to see more of the stunning coastline and take a closer look at traditional Bulgarian culture.
Nessebar is just a 45-minute drive from Obzor Beach and is well worth visiting as it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Another option is to take a catamaran to get there and, once there, Captain Jack’s Fun Cruise will keep the whole family pleased with pirate-themed games and a waterslide.
Nessebar’s old town has traditionally built dwellings with stone ground floors and wooden upper floors, each of which jut out into the streets. You can also explore the many ancient churches and temples in the area, some of which date back thousands of years.
