Overview of Ibiza

Ibiza is an island with two stories to tell: one of hedonism and excess, and one of easy-going bohemianism. Popular for its wild clubs and guest DJ’s, there’s always something exciting happening in Ibiza, especially in lively San Antonio. However, for a more low-key holiday to Ibiza, head to the north coast, where charming villages and pretty beaches abound. Portinatx, where the Sandos El Greco Beach Hotel is located, is a mini-resort surrounded by three beautiful golden beaches. It’s a great base for snorkelling, scuba-diving and sunbathing with shops and bars a short walk away.

Things to do in Ibiza

Wander through the very Instagrammable cobbled streets of Ibiza’s Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you’ll also find The 14th-century Catedral de Eivissa and ancient battlements which overlook the 16th-century Church of Santo Domingo. The old fisherman’s quarters, a short distance from the Old Town, is home to boutique shops, art galleries, and handicraft markets. When you’re in need of a refreshment, you’ll also have plenty of high-quality restaurants, cheap eateries and trendy bars to choose from. Whatever you’re looking for from your getaway in the sun, Ibiza has it all. You can strike the perfect balance between revelry and relaxation and get a decent dose of culture during your stay on this world-famous island. However you spend your time here, one thing is for sure: you won’t be disappointed.

Resort Summary

The three beaches in Portinatx are all within walking distance of the centre and each other so you can select which one to lounge on depending on your mood that day. They all have lifeguards and lots of loungers. For ease, S’Arenal Gros – Portinatx’s main beach – is in the middle of the village and at 125-metres long provides plenty of soft sand to sunbathe on.

If you’ve had a few bevvies the night before and want some peace and a bit of shade, S’Arenal Petit is just right. The fringe of pine trees on this small beach will keep you cool and adds a pretty, natural element.

To try your hand at snorkelling, head to Playa Porto Beach. This is where the lighthouse is situated and fishermen bring in their haul that you could be eating for your dinner that night.
