Must-Have Travel Experiences That Everyone Should Try!

When planning your next holiday, it’s always nice to get recommendations from friends and family of their favourite locations to soak up the sun. But what about getting must-have travel experience recommendations? That’s where we come in handy!

Here’s the lowdown of experiences around the world which, in our opinion, can’t be beaten. If you’ve got any must-have travel experience recommendations, let us know via our social media channels!

Flamingo Beach in Aruba

Flamingo Beach in Aruba is exactly what it sounds like – an exotic beach home to some majestic flamingos. Picture yourself relaxing in the sunshine on a beautiful chalk sand beach, with bright pink flamingos peacefully wandering around and taking a dip in the water. This is an experience that you won’t find anywhere else, which helps to make it extra special.

To see this amazing sight, you’ll need to visit Renaissance Island. This is a private island owned by Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino and you can only visit the island if you’re a resident of the hotel or if you have pre-booked a visit. The total cost for a day pass to visit Flamingo Beach on Renaissance Island Aruba is $125 per person, and this price includes one lunch and one cocktail at Papagayo Bar & Grill or Mangrove Beach Bar.

Husky Ride in Lapland

Whether you have young children, or if you’re a big kid yourself, Lapland is an amazing place to visit. One of the most special experiences you can have in Lapland, besides visiting the big man himself, is enjoying a husky ride. In the run up to your ride, the dogs will be very excited and may bark a lot, but this is normal! It’s best to leave them alone so they can prepare for the run, and you can pet them afterwards.

On the sled, one person will be responsible for being the driver and holding the handlebars. The other passenger(s) can sit back, relax and enjoy the ride! No matter if you’re a driver or a passenger, this is an unforgettable experience and it would be hard to recreate the magic anywhere else.

Classic Cars in Havana, Cuba

Because of Cuba’s long-standing communist government, they weren’t able to import new cars. So you can expect to see cars from the 1950s everywhere during your holiday. Take a trip down memory lane and ride in one of the older cars. While there aren’t as many around as there used to be, you can still pick one you like outside of the Hotel Inglaterra or the Museum Revolution and be driven around, Cuba-style.

If you opt for a tour of Havana in a classic car, you’ll visit lots of sites throughout the city including Revolution Square, the University and the Necropolis de Cristobal Colon.

Turtle Hatching in Cape Verde

The Cape Verde Islands are a collection of ten islands, all of which offer exciting experiences to visitors. Thanks to the location of the islands and the animals that have inhabited them, you’ll often get the chance to witness amazing sites that you might not find anywhere else.

Boa Vista and Sal are the two most popular islands visited by tourists and both offer a magical experience during certain times of the year. Turtle season in Cape Verde is from July to October and the main month for turtle sightings is August. During this month you can watch loggerhead turtles hatching on the sand and making their way to the ocean. This is a once in a lifetime experience and we recommend this to everyone who gets the opportunity.

Gondola Ride in Venice

It’s hard to picture a holiday to Venice without the intricately decorated gondolas springing to mind. Venice is a completely pedestrianised island, and the only way to get around is on foot or via the canals and waterways. Even if you’re not trying to get from A to B using a water taxi, there are other ways to take in Venice in all its glory from the water.

Gondolas are small canoe like boats which are navigated by a professional which allows you to relax and enjoy the ride. There are plenty of vendors selling the rides, particularly along the Grand Canal, the main waterway through Venice.

Diving in the Red Sea, Egypt

There are many spots around the world that offer unbelievable diving experiences, but the Red Sea in Egypt has to be one of our favourites. There’s a whole new world to discover under the surface which is filled with sea life, reefs and shipwrecks aplenty. You don’t need to worry if you don’t take to diving like a fish to water as there are plenty of diving schools along the coastline that can guide you and have you ready for under the sea in no time!

Hurghada, Sharm el Sheikh and Marsa Alam are your gateway to the Red Sea and are all established resorts with a unique and very different charm. Hurghada offers a glimpse of the real Egypt, with a superb range of dive sites just a short boat ride away.

Northern Lights in Iceland

Iceland is one of the best places in the world to see the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights. You can see them almost every night but the best time to catch a glimpse is between September and April. Without boring you too much with the science of it, the auroras can be seen at the Earth’s magnetic poles, and there’s even the southern lights called aurora australis.

As the northern lights are one of the key attractions when visiting Iceland, you won’t be short of Northern Lights tours to choose from. When going with a guide, they will take you to the best spots to catch a glimpse and tell you some interesting facts throughout your tour. Of course, these are a natural phenomenon so you may not be guaranteed to spot them, but the guides will know whether or not you have a good chance.

Grand Historical Sites in Turkey

Getting the chance to travel abroad and discover other cultures and countries is something that many of us are lucky enough to experience several times in our lives. During our trips, it’s very important to take a moment to appreciate a country’s beauty and even take a chance to understand and explore its history.

Turkey is filled with historical sites and artefacts that can give visitors a fantastic insight into times gone by. Ephesus is one of these sites that must be explored if you have the chance. Ephesus is an ancient city in Turkey’s Central Aegean region, near Selçuk. Its excavated remains have uncovered centuries of history, from classical Greece to the Roman Empire, when it was the Mediterranean’s main commercial centre.

Chichen Itza in Cancun, Mexico

Chichen Itza, a large pre-Columbian city built by the Maya people, is located in the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, near to Cancun. It is a well-known Archaeological Site and was selected one of the New 7 Wonders of the World in July 2007. One of the best ways to visit the site is by a tour.

Prices vary depending on which tour you choose, but one of our favourites is Musement’s Chichen Itza and the Maya Village Tour, costing £131 each. After exploring the archaeological sites, you will visit a cenote where you’ll find clear water and stunning stalagmite formations. Then it’s off to lunch, included in your trip price, then it’s time to get to know the locals with a visit to the traditional Maya town of Yalkoba.

Rockefeller Center in New York

New York is a must-have travel experience in itself, and everything you see while you’re there is going to be nothing short of amazing. It was really hard for us to pick just one thing in the city to highlight but seeing New York from dizzying heights is definitely up there as one of the best things to experience while you’re there.

It’s hard to picture the Big Apple without towering skyscrapers coming to mind, so being amongst the tip-tops of the buildings is sure to be an unforgettable experience. One of our favourite views is from the top of the Rockefeller Center! Most people choose to head up to the top of the Empire State Building to take in the city views, but by choosing the Rockefeller Centre, you can not only see the city from the top, but you can also enjoy the Empire State Building from a whole new angle.
