Laganas is home to one of Zante’s longest stretches of sandy coastline, with calm waters and plenty of facilities close by. It’s also part of the National Marine Park, so parts of the beach are protected during turtle nesting season – this means there’s restrictions on motorised watersports across most stretches.

• Laganas Beach is a long sandy beach that stretches around the bay towards Kalamaki and Agios Sostis, with shallow, clear water that’s great for paddling and swimming. You’ll find sunloungers, cafés and restaurants along the seafront for everything you could need.
• Kalamaki Beach is just along the bay from Laganas, and is a wide sandy stretch with shallow, clear water. Enjoy a more relaxed feel here, making it a good choice for families with younger children, or those looking to just be in each other’s company.
• Agios Sostis Beach is a small sandy beach at the western end of Laganas Bay with calm, clear water and stunning views across to Cameo Island. There’s still a laid-back atmosphere here that works well for a quieter family beach day.
• Cameo Island, accessible from Agios Sostis by a wooden footbridge, is a tiny island with a charming small beach and clear waters that are fun for a quick swim and snorkel.

There’s plenty to do around Laganas once you’ve had your fill of the beach, from spotting wildlife beneath the waves to exploring Zante’s coastline by boat.

• Laganas Bay is one of the Mediterranean’s most important loggerhead turtle nesting areas, and its clear waters make it a great place to look for marine life. Snorkelling trips can be a fun option for families, but make sure you follow local rules and keep a respectful distance from turtles.
• Take a boat trip to the Keri Caves and cruise along Zante’s dramatic southwest coast. Take in the views and huge rock formations, even stop off for a swim or two in the crystal clear waters too.
• Less than 20 minutes from Laganas by car, Water Village has waterslides, splash pools and a lazy river, plus go-karting and mini golf for a full day of family fun.
