Experience Cosmopolitan Greece on a Mykonos Holiday

One of the Most Popular Island Holidays in Greece

If Dior, Gucci and Versace were to get together to design a holiday destination in Greece, they would create Mykonos. Trendy Mykonos is quite possibly the most popular Greek islands holiday destination and it’s not hard to see why – visited by the young, beautiful and famous, Mykonos is swathed in fabulous beaches, abuzz with exotic nightlife and its streets are punctuated with boutique hotels and luxury brand shops.

With all this you’d think Mykonos’ natural charm would be lost beneath the glitz and glamour, but even extravagant Mykonos Town has retained some of that old-world Greek charm. Little Venice is one of Mykonos’ most romantic spots – a district of white-washed medieval houses perched precariously close to the sea, replete with brightly coloured balconies, this is a popular place to watch the sun go down over the sea. Just up a set of steps from Little Venice you’ll also find the Mykonos Windmills, one of the most instantly recognisable Mykonos landmarks.

If you’re more concerned about making history than appreciating it on your Mykonos holiday, you’ll be given ample opportunity in one of Mykonos’ legendary nightlife spots. Cavo Paradiso, situated up a hill from the popular Paradise Beach, is one of the hottest party spots not just in Greece but in the world, having played host to famous artists such as David Guetta and Carl Cox, while back in Mykonos Town you’ll find the similarly famous, or infamous, Space Dance club – the largest club in all of Mykonos. Once you’ve had enough dancing, you could join the host of famous bods who have tanned away the night before on one of Plati Yialos’ famous golden beaches to a backdrop of quaint whitewashed tavernas with blue-shuttered windows.

Meanwhile back in the heart of Mykonos Town you could very well be ‘papped’ coming out of one of its designer shops like Soho-Soho and Zilly, which have been frequented by the likes of Tom Cruise and his wife Katie Holmes. These shops typically close between 2am and 6pm, reopening for night time shopping when most of Mykonos’ residents come out to play.

Mykonos has also gained a reputation as one of Europe’s top gay holiday destinations. Mykonos has a number of gay bars and nightclubs, including Jacky O’s, Diva and the famous Pierro’s, that cater to gay holidaymakers, and while there are no designated gay beaches Super Paradise and Elia are the most popular with gay visitors.

Mediterranean Glamour at its Finest

Mykonos is known for sunshine, enjoying well over 300 days of it in a year, and there’s not a lot of rainfall in this glamorous holiday destination with rain seldom seen outside of February and March. Temperatures in the summer months can reach a sweltering 37 degrees Celsius, but as Mykonos is exposed to a prevailing sea wind average air temperature is around 28 degrees C, with water temperatures in the mid-20s. Winters here are dry and mild, with an average temperature of 15 degrees C.

Holidays to Mykonos are designed to make sure no one leaves the island without having a taste of Mykonos glamour. Whether you spend your holiday in a traditional inn or in 5-star opulence, or rarely see your hotel between spending time at the shops, clubs and beaches, you are guaranteed to return home feeling like a star.
