Taormina Holidays - Travel Guide

Beautiful And Historic Location

The ever popular resort of Taormina was where D H Lawrence wrote the infamous 'Lady Chatterley’s Lover' and the romanticism of the area is more than evident in the magnificent vistas and beautiful secluded spots.

The resort is located on the East coast of Sicily in a charming and inviting bay with several beaches close by. Taormina has endlessly winding medieval streets and tiny passages, each with its own secrets including great restaurants, cafés and ice cream bars. Some of these intriguing places are secluded gardens hidden by ancient stone walls; others are set on terraces overlooking the coast or in more public but equally pleasant and picturesque squares.

Just south of Taormina is the Isola Bella, a nature reserve. Tours of the Capo Sant' Andrea grottos are also available. Taormina is built on an extremely hilly coast, and is approximately a forty-five minute drive away from Europe's largest active volcano, Mount Etna.

Taormina hotels are many and varied some offering smart expensive rooms in good locations. There are a number of family run places that are cheap and yet as is the norm offer amazing views of the Ionian Sea or Mount Etna.

Taormina can be busy during July and August, so booking accommodation is recommended, however the weather is such that a visit ‘off season’ will also mean you get to enjoy the fine weather of this beautiful and historic location.
