Zipline Your Way Around Costa Rica

Holidays in Costa Rica are a rich experience as there’s so much diversity in the landscape and wildlife. One of the best ways to spot some of the exotic animals and take in some breathtaking views is to get really adventurous and go on an exciting zipline tour. To give you a flavour of what to expect we’ve put together some of the best zipline tours around.

Get a bird’s eye view of Arenal volcano

The now dormant Arenal volcano region lies in north-western Costa Rica. It’s just over a three-hour drive from coastal resorts such as Playa Flamingo and Playa Conchal and is well worth the trip.

You can fly through the jungle canopy along cables over 800 metres long on ziplines such as the Big Daddy. There are incredible views to take in too, including the volcano itself, a scenic lake and exotic wildlife such as monkeys and colourful parrots.

Zipline and bungee jump in Monteverde

Located just a two-hour drive from Tamarindo, Monteverde is surrounded by lush cloud forest, which means there’s persistent cloud cover just above the tree tops. This gives your zipline experience an extra thrill as you speed through the misty forest canopy.

There are some fantastic rides including an extra-long Superman ride with a bungee jump option at the end. The biodiversity here is extremely high, even for Costa Rica, so you’re likely to spot some of the 100 species of mammals and 400 species of birds while you’re there.

Take in the stunning waterfall as you fly around Montezuma

The seaside resort of Montezuma is located on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula and it’s just a 20-minute hike inland to get to the spectacular Montezuma waterfall and natural pools.

You can take an amazing zipline adventure high above ground and feel the adrenaline rush as you follow the path of the river through the jungle ending with breath-taking waterfall views. Along the way you’ll experience some incredible sights and sounds such as wild iguanas and howler monkeys.

Spot capuchin monkeys and toucans in Corcovado

The Corcovado National Park covers miles of pristine rainforest on the Osa Peninsula in south west Costa Rica. You can explore over 50 acres of land and experience the kinds of jungle-top views that you’d usually only get in wildlife documentaries on TV.

You’ll see some unforgettable sights including foraging anteaters, sloths hanging from trees, striking toucan birds and highly curious and intelligent white-headed capuchin monkeys.

Take the kids for some

Witch’s Rock is a favourite surfing spot which lies a 40-minute drive from popular Playas del Coco in the Guanacaste region. Inland are miles of dry forests where the whole family you can enjoy ziplining fun.

The main zipline tour here has 11 cables and three suspension bridges to explore. There’s also a smaller scale tour which is designed for children and older adults. This gentler version still provides the thrills but is much easier to navigate.

Enjoy Pacific Ocean views in Tamarindo, Guanacaste

If you’re staying in Tamarindo you’ll be just a few minutes away from Pura Aventura, a 15-year-old ranch. Here you can horse ride, hike and cycle as well as take to the skies on fun zipline tours and fly over the 1,000 acres of forest.

Once you’re up in the canopy you can see right across the countryside as well as getting superb views over the Pacific Ocean. The forest is home to a diverse variety of wildlife including birds, monkeys, sloths, deer and puma. So keep your camera handy for taking some stunning shots.

There’s something amazing to see almost everywhere you look in Costa Rica. So whether you’re ziplining, hiking or simply relaxing on a beach, you’re sure to have an amazing holiday experience.
