When you think of Italy, what springs to mind? It came as no surprise when I asked colleagues in the office this question and they answered, “pizzas, meatballs, lasagne, spaghetti, food, food and more food”. Oh Mamma Mia! We do love our food at the Holiday Hypermarket, however Italy really does have a lot more to offer than just food, so let’s take a look at 10 reasons why you should visit Italy.
Welcome to the fashion capital of the world. With cities such as Milan, Florence and Rome, Italy has got to be on your bucket list if you love fashion and shopping. Top designers such as Versace, Prada and Valentino all hail from swanky Italy.
Italy is undoubtedly home to some of the most beautiful lakes in the world. Set beneath the snow-capped Alps and dotted with cobbled streets, these lakes are pretty impressive. Take a ferry and discover quaint villages or how about a pleasant walking tour. Many celebrities have made the Italian Lakes their home including famous actor George Clooney.
Italy has the right to brag about its art collections, let’s face it with pieces like Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel and The Last Supper by Leonardo to name but a few, this country really does have something to boast about when it comes to art. With 20 wine regions, it’s no secret that some of the best wine in the world comes from Italy. Vineyard tours are a great introduction to some beautiful wines, and the scenery is pretty spectacular too. Hiccup!

Now for our favourite bit… Yes you’ve guessed it, it’s the food. Depending on which region and season we are in, the food on offer can vary. We’re sure though, wherever you are in Italy you will be able to order some good old pasta, pizza and not forgetting a tasty tiramisu.
