Hair-raising rides

The biggest attraction – literally – is Shambhala: Expedicion al Himalaya. This is the tallest and fastest hyper coaster in all of Europe and it can be seen for miles. There’s also the Dragon Khan rollercoaster with its eight exhilarating inversions and the massive Costa Caribe water park right at the heart of the theme park. During July and August you can enjoy the Fiesta Aventura. The park celebrates with nightly shows of fireworks, floats, parades and fountains, all in time to music.

PortAventura World also comprises Ferrari Land, a theme park, unique in Europe, where you can enjoy a thrilling experience with the whole family and discover all the secrets behind the legendary Italian brand and its creator, Enzo Ferrari.

The main theme park is divided into five distinct areas themed around the civilisations of the world, each with its own distinct rides, shows, shops and eateries. Let’s find out more about each one and the dedicated water park: Costa Caribe Aquatic Park.

Mediterrania

This is the first area you’ll reach when you enter the park. You’ll experience the recreation of a charming Mediterranean fishing village with precise attention to detail. This land re-creates the picturesque towns of Costa Brava and Costa Dorada, complete with typical Spanish houses and boats on the water. The main attraction in Mediterrania is Furius Baco, a horizontal catapult that fires you from 0 to 135 kilometres per hour in three seconds.

Polynesia

Trek into the Polynesia jungle complete with palm trees, shrubs and plants. Here you’ll be transported to the islands of Polynesia with its lifelike landscape, vegetation and atmosphere. Ride the dizzying Tutuki Splash ride, a seemingly sleeping volcano, or sit down for the 4D simulated Ice Age ride. Afterwards enjoy the performances of authentic Polynesian music and dance acts.

China

Tour through colossal Colonial China in this area and explore Mongolia and Imperial China. The main attraction here is Dragon Khan, with its eight vertical loops and a speed of 110 kilometres per hour. If you have little ones, take them to China’s children’s area where they can ride on the back of dragons, cross infinite bridges, climb nets and go down huge slides.

Mexico

Explore colonial Mexico with its ancient ruins and the great Mayan Pyramid. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time as you explore your colonial Mexican environment and scenery. Take a ride on the Hurakan Condor or watch some native Mexican dancing and traditional songs from the performers.

Far West

Celebrate the 4th of July in this authentic American-style village. Here you can bet on two different angry herds of buffalo in a stampede, or drop down vertical waterfalls aboard a trunk that’s lost in the river. In the evening watch the American favourite of can-can dancing.

Sésamo Aventura

Meet all the Sesame Street characters like Bert, Ernie and Oscar the Grouch in this children’s play land. Take a ride on the bird aircraft Coco Piloto or navigate through canals with the new Magic Fish ride. Children will love seeing all their favourite characters and visiting the funny farm of Elmo.

Costa Caribe Aquatic Park

With more than 50,000 square metres of water park set within PortAventura’s grounds, you’ll have plenty of slides and wild rides to cool you down in the hot Spanish sun. In the Caribbean area you can marvel at more than 4,300 tropical plants spread out around the water park. You can also race down steep slides, relax on a sun lounger, or search for hidden pirate treasure. One of the main attractions here is the ride El Rio Loco, an exciting water rafting ride where you steer the rampant currents.

Eating In

No matter what you are craving, PortAventura can cater to the tastes of even the pickiest eaters. Walk through the lands and try the typical dishes of the local areas, including tacos, chicken chow-mein and American burgers and fries. Sit down for a meal at one of the many a la carte restaurants around the park, or grab something on the go from one of the snack bars.

If you’re staying near PortAventura All Inclusive at a nearby hotel, take the chance to stuff your face on some tasty snacks you can’t get at your hotel.
