Helona Beach is all about relaxation, peace and quiet – the ideal holiday destination for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and sink into a blissfully unique and idyllic Greek town. Plus, if you do want lively nightlife, you're just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Kardamena, offering you the best of both worlds.
Head to the beach
The beautiful beach for which the town is named is the jewel in the crown of this already stunning place. The sand is soft and white, the sea sparkles temptingly, and there are sun loungers and parasols to be hired as and when you need them. When you're hungry or need to rehydrate, just pop into one of the hotel bars and they will be happy to help you.
Cocktails and dancing
Kardemena is just a five-minute drive away, but the difference between there and Helona Beach is night and day. This is where to go for a fun night out with dancing and partying aplenty. There are cocktail bars, karaoke joints and clubs.
Take in some history
Kos Town should always be on anyone's to-do list if they are in Helona Beach. It's only 40 minutes away, but will keep you captivated . You'll see the gorgeous 15th-century waterfront castle as well as the Plane Tree of Hippocrates which simply can't be missed (literally; the trunk's circumference is 12 metres!). There are traditional restaurants nestled among cobbled streets and boutique shops with souvenirs, jewellery, and fashion, too.
The food at Helona Beach is remarkable. This is where you can find all the Greek classics such as bourekakia (vine leaves stuffed with feta cheese), crispy lamb meatballs, and sofrito (a special rich sauce) as well as more international dishes.
