Bordered by olive groves and cypress trees, St George South is an idyllic, small town that takes pleasure in the quiet side of life. Here you can stretch out on one of the town's two beaches and indulge in some serious rest and relaxation. The beaches are lined with traditional tavernas, bars and shops, and after dark St George South maintains its laid-back lifestyle but with a slightly more upbeat edge.
There are two main beaches in St George South – Issos Beach and Golden Beach – which are separated by a line of rocks and a harbour. Issos Beach is located on the northern side of town, where there's a large cluster of tavernas, bars and shops. Down on the southern end is Golden Beach, where things run on the subdued side and are more spread out. This beach has been known to have stronger winds and current, so if you're travelling with kids, Issos might be your best bet.
Each of the beaches come ready with rows of sun loungers for hire, as relaxing is the main activity on this stretch of the island. Most of the hotels and apartments here also offer free use of the sunbeds and parasols lining their pools – not to mention their pool-side bars – so you'll have limitless options in the ways of lounging.
