The old walled city

Though you certainly won’t find yourself lacking in activity on other parts of the island, Ibiza Town is undeniably Ibiza’s centre of attention. Rising up in the middle of town is the historic Dalt Vila, an UNESCO World Heritage Site and walled city that still contains traces of its former Roman occupation.

Nowadays, you’ll still find cobbled lanes and old world structures here, but scattered along them are contemporary restaurants, art galleries and museums, as well as high end shops. Ibiza Town doesn’t have its own beach, but, thanks to good transport links, sandy shores are just a short and cheap bus or taxi ride away.

By day the marina in Ibiza Town is a quaint place to wander or sit nad people watch, but by night a great assortment of clubs and bars seem to pop up with atmospheres like nowhere else. These venues range from cool cocktails bars with cosy booths to booming clubs blasting house music for huge crowds.

Party capital of the world

It’s no secret that Ibiza’s nightlife scene is legendary. Party-goers from all over flock to Ibiza’s clubs for the spectacular venues, energetic atmospherse and unforgettable live sets from world-famous DJs.

The three main party areas are Ibiza Town, San Antonio Town and Playa d’en Bossa. The areas are all within 20 minutes of each other and connected by a disco bus that drops off at the major clubs on the way.

Pacha and Space are perhaps the most well-known, bringing in thousands of clubbers every summer season for parties that last until the early hours of the morning. Pacha was first on the nightlife scene in 1973 and has been delivering incredible parties ever since – there’s been a vast collection of famous faces here too.

Beach-based parties can be had in Playa d’en Bossa at locales like the Bora Bora Beach Club and the famous Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Club, which is essentially a neon-lit playground by the sea.

Yet another famous venue is Ocean Beach, which you’ll find in San Antonio. Here you’ll enjoy good music, plenty of drinks and lavish sun beds – it couldn’t get better!

Days in Ibiza are meant to be spent on these peaceful shores, stretching out underneath the Spanish sun or grabbing a drink from a waterfront bar. The waters here are usually shallow and calm, making them excellent for paddling or taking a quick dip between siestas. They’re also perfect for family holidays and for kids to splash around and have fun – despite it’s large clubbing scene, Ibiza is a surprisingly great destination for families with plenty of spots to get away from the party side.

With such an impressive beach scene also comes an amazing array of water-sports opportunities. Rent a pair of jet skis and glide along the waves, bounce atop the waves on a jet ski, or take a crash course in diving from one of the island’s many diving centres. You can even embark on a boat cruise and explore the rocky coast – Ibiza’s scenery looks just as beautiful from offshore as it does on.

The quieter resorts

People tend to only think of the clubs and parties when it comes to Ibiza, but there’s so much more to a holiday in Ibiza – the clubs and bars are only a small part of the island.

A relaxing coastal experience can be had at Es Cana, where you’ll find cheap bars and a chilled out lifestyle. There’s plenty to do though, from watersports to bustling hippie markets, as well as tranquil beaches, it’s the perfect resort for those wanting everything in one place, but without the holiday hustle and bustle.

Figueretas is another quieter resort offering a beautiful base for your cheap holiday in Ibiza. It’s crescent shaped beach is lined with sun loungers and parasols, as well as offering plenty of water sports opportunities. Then, behind the promenade you’ll find a vast selection of restaurants, bars and shops to keep you satisfied, but for those nights you want to explore further afield, it’s just a 15 minute walk to the energetic Ibiza Town.
