A guide to nightlife in Schladming

This beautiful little town tucked in the Enns Valley has over 700 years of history, but that doesn’t mean the fun stops when the sun goes down. Thanks to its modern bars and cool craft beers, Schladming offers Austria holidaymakers a good variety of places to enjoy some downtime come nightfall.

Listen to live DJs by starlight at Tauernalm

By day, Tauernalm is a pleasing alpine dining venue where guests can savour steak on the terrace. But after sunset, this place earns its stripes as a fantastic nightlife venue, all in cosy wood-beamed surroundings. Live DJ sets make for a fun-filled dancefloor, while other nights see local bands take to the stage with acoustic sessions.

Hit the road at Szenario

Slap bang in the centre of town, this pub is hard to miss. The folks at Szenario boast that their pub is so welcoming and fun you won’t go home before sunrise. The walls are covered in old licence plates and Americana, but the feel is pure Austrian fun and mischief, complete with good music and lively banter.

Dance until dawn at Cult Club

While Schladming is no Ibiza, it still has a great nightlife scene. Cult Club has long been the young crowd’s choice for a big weekend, especially among those who choose a package holiday to Austria. Its cocktails and cheap shots make it a big hit with just about everybody, not to mention its heaving events calendar.

Sing when you're winning at Das Beisl

It’s not every day a vibrant karaoke bar comes with classy covered outdoor seating, but Das Beisl delivers just that. This makes it a venue of two halves, so for those who don’t fancy taking to the mic there’s a courtyard where you can relax with a cocktail or two. The bar staff are a fun-loving lot, just as eager to sing the oldies as the customers.

Get cosy at Steirische Rauchkuchl-Hanglbar

Tucked on the corner in an olde-worlde style building, this little pub isn’t just popular for its location next door to a kebab shop. While karaoke takes centre stage on many of the themed nights here, there’s also plenty of opportunity to enjoy the rustic surroundings over a pint.

Savour the views at Almrausch

You’re high in the hills for this one, with slopes spreading away from the terrace in every direction. It makes for superb views over white wine on a romantic retreat, but you’re just as likely to enjoy a few cheeky drinks under the starlight or among its cosy interior.

Admire the slopes at Andi's Umbrella Bar

While it’s popular with winter sports enthusiasts, this cute little shack has plenty of heart. It’s right at the base of some impressive inclines, but alongside a good range of ales and lagers, it also does a decent turn in pub grub and bar snacks that keep tummies topped up.

Siglu is as much a part of the nightlife scene in Schladming as Cult Club or any other, and the venue is pretty chummy. Here you can expect exotic shots and cocktails together with a far more intimate venue. The music incorporates plenty of European house beats, and holidaymakers from around the world make it their go-to place for dancing and meeting new people during their Austria break.

Stay classy at La Porta

With plenty of beers on tap and a good range of spirits, the suave interior and relaxed feel of La Porta makes its love of cocktails well known. Owned and run by a local couple and their close-knit team, there’s community spirit galore here, but also plenty of lively events like DJ sets and blues musicians to spice things up.

Get away from it all at Kuhstall Wagrain

Located at the base of the mountains and a little outside the town centre, this wine bar and classic pub ticks plenty of boxes. It’s got a wholesome family feel, but isn’t afraid to shake things up with a DJ set or two every so often. There’s pub grub here too, with burgers stacked high, but it’s the plentiful beers on tap that really draw the crowds.
