What is there to do in Agadir?

There’s plenty to do beyond the pool, whether you’re after beach days, shopping, sightseeing or a taste of Moroccan culture.

Start with Agadir Beach, a huge stretch of golden sand that’s ideal for swimming, sunbathing and watersports. The seafront promenade is also perfect for a wander, with cafés, restaurants and plenty of spots to stop for a drink while watching the sunset.

For some history and panoramic views, head up to the Agadir Oufella Kasbah. Although much of the original kasbah was destroyed by an earthquake, the hilltop location offers some of the best views across the city and coastline.

If shopping is on your list, spend an afternoon at Souk El Had. It’s one of the biggest markets in the region, packed with colourful stalls selling spices, clothing, crafts, jewellery and Moroccan souvenirs. Don’t forget to haggle for a bargain.

You can also explore the coast by boat or 4×4, with excursions taking you to quieter beaches and scenic spots outside the resort. Surfing is popular around the Agadir coastline too, particularly towards Taghazout, which is known for its waves and relaxed surf scene.

For something completely different, head inland to Paradise Valley, where you can explore a beautiful natural landscape of palm trees, rocky gorges and natural pools.

And if you fancy experiencing more of Morocco, day trips can take you into the Atlas Mountains and surrounding villages, giving you a glimpse of traditional Moroccan life away from the coast.
