A Venetian Riviera holiday is an excellent way to enjoy all the benefits of a beach holiday with the interest and excitement of a city break. The resorts such as Lido Di Jesolo and Venice Lido on Italy's Adriatic coast have fantastic long beaches and warm, clear waters. An excellent selection of bars and restaurants cater for all kinds of tastes and with the fabulous city of Venice so close by there is more than enough cultural distraction to keep your Venetian Riviera holidays interesting.

The amazing sights of Venice are perhaps best viewed from the famous gondolas that negotiate the waterways between the elegant gothic buildings and palaces of the city.

Be sure to hop back onto dry land and take a walk around Piazza San Marco (St Mark's square). Sit in one of the street Side cafes to enjoy the magnificent blend of Byzantine, Islamic and western European architecture, particularly evident in the Basilica di San Marco.

Away from the amazing beaches in the resort areas, Venetian Riviera holidays offer plenty of culture. With numerous art galleries and museums to visit, Venice has more than enough to enthrall most visitors and is a great place to sit down for a meal or enjoy a few drinks away from the resorts.

Attractions of the Venetian Riviera

The Venetian Riviera holiday resorts have all the facilities you would expect of a sun, sea and sand holiday resort with plenty of beachfront bars and cafes to choose from. There are water sports aplenty to enjoy on the Venetian Riviera beaches such as windsurfing, sailing and waterskiing. Equipment rental is very simple and there are instructors on hand to give all the necessary advice.

Visit the beautiful city of Venice and traverse the canals by traditional gondola. The Rialto is the site where the very first bridge was built over the Grand Canal and where a bustling fruit and veg market has been held for hundreds of years.

If you enjoy historic architecture Venice has a multitude of tremendous looking buildings including some 200 churches tucked away among the Piazzas and watery streets. For an unusual souvenir take a ferry or water taxi from Venice to the little island of Murano to pick up some of the famous glass products produced there.
