Spotlight On: RIU Karamboa

Whether you’re planning to book a sunny summer holiday or a warming winter getaway, having hotel recommendations can be invaluable to make your booking experience more seamless. There’s nothing better than being confident in your hotel choice and one of the ways we can help you with that is by showing some of the much loved spots that our customers want to return to year after year! Keep reading, because the next hotel in the Spotlight On series is a good one!

Island Life

Riu Karamboa is a beach-facing hotel, just a few steps away from the white sands and turquoise waters of Praia de Salines. Overlooked by plunging sand dunes and located directly on a colossal white-sand beach, the five-star Riu Karamboa has a luxurious feel to it. The hotel takes pride of place on Cape Verde’s Boa Vista Island, and with warm temperatures, a gentle Sahara breeze and hardly any rainfall, it’s easy to see why Boa Vista is such a popular holiday spot.

This immaculate island of gentle waves, rolling sand dunes and azure waters is a holidaymaker’s paradise. You’re even likely to spot a turtle or two! You’d be forgiven for thinking you were in the Caribbean, thanks to the island’s soft, white sands and sapphire waters. Just six hours away by plane from the UK, holidays to Cape Verde are all about sun-baked beaches, great food, lively cuisine and music.

What’s more, the hotel is only five minutes away from the airport! Your holiday will be off to the best start in no time thanks to the super short journey from Boa Vista Airport. And, don’t forget, your coach transfer is included in your TUI holiday package from us!

Coastal Cuisine

There’s plenty of choice on the food front, with four buffet restaurants and a from-the-menu place covering around-the-world fare. Mogambo will be the hotel’s main restaurant. You’ll find self-serve eats in this restaurant, which dishes up for breakfast and dinner – the latter will include live cooking stations as well as two themed buffets per week. The poolside, Asian and Italian restaurants are also buffet numbers, with the poolside open for brunch and dinner, and the Italian and Asian spots open just for your evening meal.

The Kulinarium is a gourmet restaurant, and offers an a la carte service to hotel guests for their evening meal between 7 and 10.30pm. During the day, if you get a bit peckish, Pepe’s Food will offer snacks and light lunch dishes. The hotel also has six bars which keep drinks flowing throughout the day and night! Two of the spots are swim-up options and there’s also a 24 hour sports bar!

Day To Night Fun

There are five pools to lounge around, all fringed by palm trees and lounger-lined terraces. You can also whizz down the water slides at Splash Water World, which is shared with the neighbouring Riu Palace Boavista. Fitness fans can hit the gym, or sign up for one of the group exercise sessions. There are also courts for beach volleyball, plus a bunch of watersports to try out.

For something a little different, why not try your hand at scuba diving, or if you prefer benign on dry land, you could head to RiuArt atelier and explore your creative flair. Just so you know, both of these activities come at an extra cost. Entertainment-wise, shows and live music are on the cards after dark. There’s a weekly themed party, too, with a live DJ set.

Relaxing At RIU

For something in the way of relaxation, book a massage or a moisturising body wrap at the hotel’s spa. Renova Spa’s free-to-use facilities will include a steam bath, relaxation pool and gym. Treatments at the beauty salon as well as massages will be payable. The spa also has a steam bath when you want to activate your ultimate relaxation mode.

Rooms come with air-conditioning, a ceiling fan, TV, mini-fridge, and either a balcony or terrace. They come as either double or twins, or you can go for one of the more spacious suites. Or you could opt for a swim-up twin room for access to a small private pool on the terrace.
