All for the love of Benidorm and Madge

With the long awaited return of Benidorm to our TV screens we thought we would have a look at Benidorm and what is it that makes the resort and its characters stand out.

Back for another holiday is the dysfunctional Garvey family with Madge at the helm along with the well-known swinging couple Donald and Jacqueline Stewart. The new family on the block this year is the Dyke family. Tonya –not Tania!! She is already becoming a character we love to hate.

We all know that Madge with her healthy orange glow made mobility scooters a fashion statement and an easy option to get around the resort. You can see the many scooters being charged throughout the day in the hotel lobbies and by night they are fully charged to take there slightly inebriated passenger’s home.

The Solana hotel is where the holidaymakers from the TV programme lay their weary heads, however this is just a fictional name, the hotel is actually called the Sol Pelicanos Ocas and is open all year round to paying guests where you can enjoy Half Board or All Inclusive. The hotel is in the heart of Benidorm surrounded by many bars and restaurants and just 300m from Levante beach.

Entertainment is where Benidorm really comes into its own. From singers, tribute acts and comedians there really is something to entertain everyone when the sun goes down.

Morgan’s Tavern is worth a visit, this is used as the location for the filming of Neptune’s bar from the show, and if that’s not enough, you can head up to the Benidorm Palace where Moulin Rouge meets Vegas.

Filming usually takes place in the months of April, May and June, and the cast can be often seen wandering around the markets and shops and are always happy to pose for a photo with you.
