Benidorm has an annual Fiesta which always takes place on the second Sunday in November, and with official events kicking off on the Friday, then continuing through to the Wednesday, there is so much to fun to get involved with. However, Thursday is the day favoured by the Brits but we’ll talk more about that later!

The celebrations are in honour of the Patron Saints of Benidorm La Virgen del Sufrage and Jaime Apostol and can be traced back as far as 1740.

Each year as this event takes place, the town comes alive with a host of floral decorations, religious parades that weave through the streets, live music and street performers who keep the crowds entertained. But the official end to this amazing fiesta is the spectacular fireworks display, which is held on the Wednesday evening.

Brits particularly love Thursdays here as thousands take to the streets and bars to mark the unofficial fancy dress party day. In fact, it’s the largest fancy dress party in Europe, how cool is that!? This event gets bigger and better each year and so do the costumes – it’s a great time to let your hair down and dance like nobody’s watching!

If you’ve missed the boat this year, don’t worry, put a mark on your calendar for next year’s event and get planning your trip – starting with that all important fancy dress outfit.

Benidorm offers a large variety of accommodation ranging from Self Catering apartments for the budget-conscious traveller and luxury boutique hotels if you fancy a pampering.

Of course Benidorm has a lot more to offer other than its fiesta. The old town is a maze of cobbled streets with boutique shops – make sure you visit Tapas Alley for lunch and a chilled beer. If you’re a thrill seeker Terra Mitica Theme Park is a great day out for the family, or if you prefer lazy days head down to one of Benidorm’s famous beaches.
