For many of us, particularly families with children, the biggest dread when going on holiday is having a long transfer into your resort. Some may suffer from travel sickness, and some just get bored. Then there are those who are just so excited to be on holiday that they do not want to waste precious hours sat on a hot stuffy coach.
This is a guide to resorts which have transfer times, under half an hour, which will save you the trouble of trailing through the internet or brochures to find them yourselves. These timings are based on using tour operator shuttles so they do take into account hotel drop offs. You can usually reduce transfer times by taking a direct taxi transfer, so check costs for them prior to booking your holiday. Sometimes with families a taxi transfer can actually work out cheaper than paying for a shuttle transfer. However, be careful to use a reputable company so that you are not left stranded. Holiday Hypermarket do offer taxi transfers to most destinations, so call up to check prices with them.
Here are the resorts with short transfers –
Corfu – Corfu Town & Gouvia (20 minutes) Kommeno Bay (20-30 minutes)
Crete – Gournes (20 minutes) & Lyttos Beach (25 minutes)
Kos – Helona Beach (15 minutes)

There are many other destinations that are just over the half hour, and some places such as Turkey do not have anywhere less than half an hour . Turkey’s shortest transfer time is to Sarigerme, which takes about half an hour, so just on the borderline. I do hope this list helps you decide where to take your next holiday. If it does, do let us know where you have chosen. Do you favour short transfers? Or do you like looking at the scenery and watching the world go by?
