Business or pleasure

While it might sound like a financial or office district, Business Bay is actually the glitzy new addition to Dubai’s already blossoming entertainment hubs. Located just shy of downtown, Business Bay has waterfront views aplenty, but also puts you within a few minutes’ stroll of the massive malls that made the city famous, as well as its immense Burj Khalifa tower.

It’s more than just shimmering glass spires and sunlit landmarks though. At the heart of Business Bay you’ll find Safa Park, for instance, which is over 100 acres of green sunny parkland with a massive lake in its centre. You can rent boats to bob over that water following a picnic on the green, showing how Dubai has grown to become a city where downtime is just as easily found as live-wire excitement.

Experiencing the best Dubai can offer

For a view unlike anything you’ve ever experienced, head to the top of the Burj Khalifa and see the city from giddying heights. Business Bay also keeps you close to Dubai Mall, where a staggering 1,500 shops await your retail reconnaissance, along with the mall’s own ice rink. Dubai Mall wins fans from across the globe every January thanks to the Dubai Shopping Festival. With its fireworks and performances alongside slashed prices and designer trends, it’s a far glitzier affair than the January sales back home.

If it’s more laid-back fun you’re after, check out The Backyard. This open plan space hosts an outdoor cinema where you can watch movies by sunset. Alternatively, head to Marasi Park for some free yoga lessons, or get physical in tackling Mountain Extreme, the largest climbing wall in the city. Business Bay bustles with adrenaline heavy activities like these, including tennis, paintball and even parkour workshops.

There’s also a dedicated running track that threads through the district past all the best sights. Art lovers will adore Business Bay too, not only for its blossoming street art scene, but also for the pop-up gallery shops peppered across the district.

Cuisine from across the globe

Business Bay is a relatively new and very trendy district, so it makes sense that plenty of the city’s most ambitious restaurants and cafes want to set up shop here. That means some fantastic flavours from every culture under the sun. For example, Amigos Cafe & Restaurant dishes up Filipino specialities and the bombastic BASTA! giving a fresh twist on Italian classics. Hotels in Business Bay Dubai also offer delicious dining options, so be sure to check out the restaurants in your Business Bay hotel.

Dining on the go in such an active part of town is easily done too, thanks to fast food favourites like Parathas and coffee shops such as The Bean Machine. If you’re visiting Business Bay in late February to mid-March you’ll likely coincide with the Dubai Food Festival, where show cooking and even more menu variety makes for a foodie heaven.

Nights out mean business

While Dubai shimmers in the daytime desert sun, it glistens with passion after dark, and this is especially true of Business Bay. Nightlife here is as varied as you want it to be, all with the same class and showmanship this city does so well.

Pub grub and pints are brought roaring into the 21st century at the Bridgewater Tavern, where they also have football match screenings. For a modern and classy lounge affair you can settle in at Iris Dubai among sleek Scandinavian furniture, or instead retreat to the Secret Terrace rooftop bar. Or The Bay Club is a poolside bar with tropical colours and zingy cocktails.

But of course, if it’s a loud and proud night out you’re after, nightclubs are dotted throughout Business Bay too. Perhaps the most well known and beloved is the Billionaire Mansion, an upmarket place where the movers and shakers come to let loose.
