Overview of Costa Dorada

While most tourists head to Costa del Sol for a Spanish beach holiday, those in-the-know choose Costa Dorada holidays. The Costa Dorada occupies a 60-mile stretch of the coast south of Barcelona. Picture long swathes of golden, sandy beaches, where you can soak up the Spanish sun or swim in the ocean. If you’re looking for a quiet holiday, there are plenty of calm coves and unspoilt fishing villages. But you’ll also find livelier resorts with great nightlife, and you can explore the thriving historic capital, Tarragona. H10 Vintage Salou is ideally located to explore the region.

Things to do in Costa Dorada

Staying at H10 Vintage Salou means you’re in the perfect location to explore the town of Salou. Shop for a bargain on Avenida Jaume I, the main shopping street. Along this marble promenade, you’ll find everything from designer boutiques to shops selling local crafts. Cool off in the waters of Playa Llevant, a beach running the length of the town. This is the place to try out some water sports, like jetskiing. The beach is also lined with beach shacks – chiringuitos – serving delicious seafood, including sardines grilled over charcoal. In the evening, head to Avenida de Carles Buigas to check out the clubs and bars. Whether you choose to spend the entirety of your trip in Salou or explore further afield, you’ll get caught up in the holiday mood. Families, friends and couples will all be captivated by beautiful Costa Dorada.

Resort Summary

Salou has two main beaches – both of which are European Blue Flag winners – that offer the kind of beautiful, fine sand and stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea that we’ve come to expect from holidays to Costa Dorada. Playa de Llevant beach is a great choice for families as the water remains calm and shallow and the sand is consistently smooth – ideal conditions for splashing around or doing some snorkelling. Playa de Llevant has a long stretch of beach bars and there are also small play areas for children along the promenade.

The second beach in Salou is Playa de Ponent. It’s slightly shorter than Playa de Llevant but still a kilometre long with quaint cafes dotted along the sand, perfect for an ice cold refreshment. If you want to venture further afield the busier tourist hotspot of Cambrils is just up the coast line.
