Things to do in Salou

The shopping opportunities in Salou are excellent, with a mix of designer boutiques and traditional artisan shops lining the streets. Salou has two main beaches and both are great for sunbathing, but for a more secluded option, travel around the coast to Cala Crancs and Fort Cove. You’ll need to take your own food and drinks with you, but the peaceful waters and deserted sands are worth it. There’s plenty of amazing food to be sampled in Salou. You should definitely seek out a portion of freshly caught grilled sardines from a beach shack. Order them as an appetiser and get paella to share, too. You won’t be disappointed. From stretching out and enjoying the Spanish sun for a few hours to visiting a water park, grabbing some tasty food or indulging in a spot of shopping, Salou can cater to every whim. Sample the delicious delicacies and stroll around the locality and you’ll soon feel immersed in the local culture.

Resort Summary

Salou has two main beaches – both of which are European Blue Flag winners – that offer the kind of beautiful, fine sand and stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea that we’ve come to expect from holidays to Costa Dorada. Playa de Llevant beach is a great choice for families as the water remains calm and shallow and the sand is consistently smooth – ideal conditions for splashing around or doing some snorkelling. Playa de Llevant has a long stretch of beach bars and there are also small play areas for children along the promenade.

The second beach in Salou is Playa de Ponent. It’s slightly shorter than Playa de Llevant but still a kilometre long with quaint cafes dotted along the sand, perfect for an ice cold refreshment. If you want to venture further afield the busier tourist hotspot of Cambrils is just up the coast line.
