A guide to nightlife in Nerja

Holidays to Costa del Sol are sure to be enhanced by sampling Nerja‘s nightlife scene. In fact, the name Nerja comes from the resort’s original name – Narixa. It means ‘abundant source’ and turned out to be a good description when it comes to Nerja nightlife. The charmingly named Plaza Tutti Frutti is where most of Nerja nightlife takes place. At night it transforms to a bustling hotspot with people talking and dancing until late – a must visit even for those staying All Inclusive in Costa del Sol. But while Plaza Tutti Frutti is the centre of activity when it comes to nightlife in Nerja, you’ll find bars and restaurants everywhere you go.

Classy nights at Hemingway's

Hemingway’s is a favourite for pre- or post- dinner drinks in Nerja. Perfect for either finishing your night off, or to have the first expertly crafted cocktail to get things started.

Cocktails and culture at Eva Gaudi Bar

Eva Gaudi bar can be found at the near end of Burriana beach, placed perfectly to catch the best of the afternoon sun. Cocktails are cheap at Eva Gaudi Bar, and gin is its speciality, so it’s a great place to either relax as the sun goes down or to top up until you’re ready to party.

Sing along at Shambles Karaoke Bar

We’re not sure what the name ‘Shambles’ is supposed to suggest, although it’s fair to say that being in a bit of a shambles is a natural precursor to karaoke. With cheap drinks and excellent hosts this is a great place for a seriously fun night out.

Unwind at Buddha Bar Nerja

Buddha Bar is one of the best places in Nerja to simply relax and enjoy the warmth of a typical Spanish evening. Its rooftop bar has great views over Nerja and you’ll even get some free sweets with your delicious cocktails.

Forget where you are at Punta Lara Bar

Punta Lara is an urbanisation on the western outskirts of Nerja, and Punta Lara Bar is its favourite watering hole. Doing simple food from a small kitchen – we’re told the ribs are excellent – Punta Lara Bar isn’t the place for a wild night but it’s one of the friendliest you’re likely to come across.

Cosy up at Pub La Guarida

Pub La Guarida is one of the most popular venues in Plaza Tutti Frutti. Somewhere between a disco and a pub, Pub La Guardia doesn’t open till 10.30pm and you won’t see the last person leaving till it starts to get light. It’s known as one of the best places for drinking and dancing and a must-visit on a tour of Plaza Tutti Frutti.

Dance 'til sunrise at Sala Rockefeller

Sala Rockefeller isn’t quite on Plaza Tutti Frutti, but it’s still an essential part of partying in Nerja. One of the few places with a real club vibe and open until 6am, Sala Rockefeller plays host to quality DJs, bright lights, questionable dance moves and one of the best party atmospheres in town.

El Fuego is the kind of place where the owner will remember you if you make a return trip. People go for the friendly and relaxed atmosphere, to catch up with the latest events and enjoy some friendly rivalry over its pool table.

Classic quizzing at Irish Annie's

No list of best nightlife in a Spanish resort area can be complete without an Irish Bar. Irish Annie’s fits the bill perfectly – warm welcome, cold Guinness and jovial evenings spent pub quizzing or enjoying some traditional Irish tunes.

Tap along to El Burro Blanco Flamenco Bar

Specialist flamenco bars aren’t for everyone, but we recommend you give it a try. El Burro Blanco can be found on Calle Gloria and you’ll be treated there to some traditional and exciting Spanish entertainment in an intimate atmosphere.
