A guide to the best beaches in Goa

Goa is a spectacular holiday destination offering so much for everyone, but the beaches in Goa are certainly the highlight. You can expect gorgeous golden and white sands, luscious green palm tress and authentic beach shacks, as well as watersports, dolphins and even beach parties. Each one of the beaches in Goa offer something different, so whether you’re looking for that hustle and bustle holiday feel, or complete relaxation and quiet, one of these beautiful beaches will tick your boxes. From the North to the South, Goa’s coastline is remarkable.

Baga Beach

Baga Beach in the North of Goa is the place to be if you like that busy holiday feel and all amenities at a stone’s throw. You’ll enjoy a gorgeous stretch of golden sand dotted with sun loungers and when in need of refreshments there’s restaurants and beach shacks just a short walk away. After the sun sets, a buzzing and vibrant atmosphere develops with some of these venues staying open alongside the nightclubs.

For those looking for the same friendly holiday feel but just not the after hours buzz, Candolim is another hugely popular beach in Goa. Explore the clear waters and golden sand dunes, or get stuck in with jet skiing, banana boat rides and even scuba diving. There’s no question as to why it’s one of the best beaches in Goa because you can sunbathe and relax or add a little thrill, and then you can head to the beach shacks to quench your thirst and look out across the spectacular view.

Sinquerim is a tranquil spot for those looking to lay out their beach towel and relax with a beautiful view. A much quieter spot than other beaches in Goa, Sinquerim is a long stretch of golden sand lined with palm trees giving almost a secluded feel. There is a small selection of beach shacks here when you need an ice cold drink, and if you fancy a walk along the shore you’ll eventually reach Baga Beach and its more lively feel.

Arossim beach is the perfect blend of quiet and sedate but also with plenty on offer. The clear blue water and dense backdrop of palm trees gives a surreal feel while you lay out and take in your surroundings. Plus, there are watersports on offer if you need to mix up the sunbathing and there’s some truly spectacular beach shacks serving fresh seafood when you need a bite to eat.

Ideal for families in Goa, Benaulim beach boasts a long stretch of white sand with calm waters and family-friendly restaurants. When the children eventually get restless there’s a selection of watersports they can have a go at and with shallow shores it’s perfect for them to have a play. It’s one of the best beaches in Goa because of its busy marine life, while you’re here you may spot a dolphin or two!

Mandrem Beach

Mandrem beach is another great spot for those looking for solitude. The unspoilt white sands here are the perfect place to spend a lazy day, enjoy a stroll or even get out your yoga mat. There are a few beach shacks a short walk away, although much less than the other beaches, where you can try some local dishes and enjoy an ice cold drink. What sets mandrem beach aside is that there is nothing happening, you can simply sit back and relax in front of the Arabian sea – it’s also a spectacular place to watch the sunset!
