Hidden beauties

Many of Aghia Efimia’s best beaches are tucked away into the rugged coastline – so they’re only accessible by boat. Luckily there are plenty of trips and tours that will take you around the beautiful inlets. You can also hire your own boat to explore the secluded coves and snorkel in the warm waters.

A film buff's dream!

A 15-minute drive away is the town of Sami – which had a starring role in Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. The Hollywood film took to its narrow, winding streets and turned it into wartime Argostoli. Its beautiful harbour, shops and restaurants make it worth visiting while you’re in Agia Efimia. If you’re a fan of the film, then make sure you check out Myrtos Beach – you’ll instantly recognise it from the big screen. You’ll also want to stop at the magical Melissani Lake and watch the wondrous colours that sparkle underground.

Crystal clear waters

Swimmers and divers will love the glassy waters off Aghia Efimia’s shoreline. The diving conditions are sublime, and visibility of more than 30 metres is the norm. You can explore underground caves, reefs and old shipwrecks – and some guides will even take you over a diffused World War Two mine.
