Aegean Aparthotel

It’s all about friendliness and location at the family-run Aegean Aparthotel. The beach is just down the hill, and the local shops, bars and eateries can be found 200m away. The apartments have everything you need to make this place your base, and the deep pool is complemented by a welcoming sun terrace and pool bar. The little ones have their own pool, too. The continental breakfast is comprehensive, there’s an all-day bar and weekly barbecue, and the town is just a short walk away. The hotel also shows Premier League football on the big screen for any footie fans.

Overview of Halkidiki

Not quite as well-known as many of the other popular Greek islands, Halkidiki has a chilled vibe, warm summers, stunning landscapes, and superb, relaxing beaches. Being less busy than other Greek locations, this place lends itself to chilling out and soaking up the rays, so holidays to Halkidiki tend to centre on the golden beaches. Nowhere is this better illustrated than in Kriopigi, home to the Aegean Aparthotel. This charming, old-worldly village is perched on a hillside on Greece’s Kassandra peninsula. It boasts a beautiful, sandy beach and a quaint town square with welcoming bars, a variety of shops and tavernas.

Things to do in Kriopigi

The beauty of Kriopigi is in its simplicity. The scenery is breathtaking, with woodland and olive groves all around, and the beaches are lovely. As you’d expect, lazing by the sea is a popular pastime, and there are quiet coves to discover if you really want to get away from it all. The local cafés and tavernas are only a short stroll away, and if you do feel the need to step up the pace, you can take a day trip to the city of Thessaloniki and immerse yourself in its rich 2,300-year-old history. When it’s time to get away from it all and leave the hectic, modern world behind, an idyllic break to Kriopigi, and the Aegean Aparthotel, is just the ticket. The sun shines, the scenery is compelling, and the welcome is warm in this majestic part of the world.

Resort Summary

Kriopigi’s beach is its main attraction. It’s a long stretch with its widest point at the southern end, where the water is also deepest. Families tend to stay around the shallow waters at the narrower northern end of the beach, which also benefits from natural shade provided by the pine trees on the edge of the sand.

The journey from town to the beach is downhill and, while you can stroll back up to your hotel in 10 minutes, there’s a mini-train which does the journey there and back throughout the day to save your legs.

All along this part of the coast small coves can be found where you can sink back in the sand and enjoy the peace of this popular Halkidiki destination. There are a few sports taking place in the water so you can hire a pedalo or go jet ski-ing a little further out. If you want more in the way of water action, Kalithea and Polichrono are a short bus-ride away and are particularly good for scuba diving.
