KN Matas Blancas

With a peaceful pool scene and a modern spa, the KN Matas Blancas is a relaxing retreat. In the hills above Costa Calma, the hotel is only a 20-minute stroll from the beach, and if you don’t fancy the walk, you can just hop on the free shuttle bus.

The hotel is for adults only, so you’re guaranteed a peaceful break, especially if you head to the rooftop sunbathing terrace.

At ground level, a trio of pools connect to create a lagoon-style number. During the winter months, one of these is heated, and there’s even a pool bar so you can stay hydrated in the heat.

Overview of Costa Calma

If you’re a beach lover, Costa Calma is the perfect place for a break. Holidays to Fuerteventura often centre around the sand and sun, and a trip to Costa Calma is no different.

Things to do in Costa Calma

The KN Matas Blancas is just over a kilometre from the beach and two kilometres from the resort centre. Wander to the beach or hop on the free shuttle bus to make the most of the softs sands, sunloungers and lots of parasols.

The beach usually has a gentle breeze which makes it great for water sports. So, as you recline on the lounger, keep a look out for windsurfers. If you’re feeling adventurous, you could even give it a try.

Away from the beachfront, take a walk along the greenbelt or visit the traditional Sunday market that’s popular with locals.

A place where the resort name really does say it all, Costa Calma can help you truly relax and recharge. You won’t even make it back to the plane before you’re considering your return trip.

Resort Summary

Originally built around the village of Canada del Rio, this stunning coastline is popular with tourists. From spotless beaches to the green zone of trees running the length of the resort, the countryside is the soul of this captivating place. A paved walkway linking the greenbelt to the main road is as beautiful to walk at day as it is when lit up at night.

At the heart of family-friendly Costa Calma you can enjoy the traditional Sunday market, a colourful bustle of food and drink that runs from early morning until the afternoon. It’s a great place for finding those all important souvenirs during holidays to Fuerteventura.

When it comes to hotels, you’re spoilt for choice with the range along the resort. If you like to wake up to the sound of the waves, there’s the Hotel Rio Calma – a beachfront house set in landscaped gardens. Sporty types who want to be near to the wind surfing schools might fancy the Hotel Esmerelda instead. It’s less secluded but perfect if you want to get close to the tides on Playa Barca.
