35km of beaches
It’s hard to pinpoint exactly which beach is the best across Santanyi because there are miles of options that all include golden sand, shallow shores and crystal clear oceans. No matter where you choose to spend time by the coast, you’re sure to feel the mellow vibes and relaxing state you were craving.
Cala Santanyi is a great tourist patch that features a beach and a good sized area of water that is bordered by small cliffs. The sandy area can get busy so arrive early to claim your spot but the beach is best used as a swimming facility thanks to the calm waves.
A more rugged beach is found at Playa es Caragol. A rough terrain of rocks and bushes lead out towards a massive beach that remains relatively quiet for much of the year. This tranquil beach is accessible via the lighthouse of Ses Salines.
Pedal across the waves
A unique way to ride the waves is aboard a bicycle catamaran. The whole family can pedal their way across the water and take in the views across the southern coastline. This is a great way to visit and even cycle underneath the Es Pontas arch: a natural rock formation that is a great sight to see from land or the ocean.
Cala D’Or is a tourist town found in Santanyi and one that offers plenty for visitors. The resort is home to seven beaches, a huge tennis club with plenty of courts and a boardwalk promenade that is filled with shops and restaurants.
Elsewhere along the coast you can practice your game at one of five top quality golf courses found on the coastline. With Majorca’s weather providing ideal playing conditions, all of them feature 18-holes and each offers stunning views and surroundings.
Avinguda Tagomago shops
There is a good selection of venues to grab your retail fix from while enjoying holidays in Santanyi. Cala D’Or’s main shopping street is the Avinguda Tagomago and it’s filled with everything you could possibly wish for. Small boutiques, big brand name designers, typical souvenir shops, independent arts and craft makers, this street seems to have it all.
Further up the coast there is even more options available in the historic city of Palma. Interspersed between the ancient buildings and cathedrals, you’ll find brilliant stores that offer everything from unique items to well-known designer products.

Drive south from the Palma de Mallorca Arport and it will take around 40 minutes to reach your chosen destination in Santanyi.

Best time of year to visit
Holidays to Santanyi provide wonderful summer temperatures while the winters can get much milder. Average temperatures in August reach 26C but can top 30C during the days while January drops to 9C.
