The second busiest airport in Scotland
Glasgow Airport opened its doors to the world in 1966, now 9.4 million excited family members, couples and friends pass through the terminal a year.
Owned by AGS Airports Limited, this airport is now the second busiest airport in Scotland with 100,000 aircraft movements a year. The first plane to land in Glasgow was a six-seater Piper Cherokee, and in celebration of their 50th birthday, the same plane took off to recreate the moment.
Getting to and from Glasgow Airport
Glasgow Airport is the only airport in Scotland with direct motorway access, so getting there should be easy peasy, especially with postcode PA3 2SW and your handy sat-nav. If you’re taking the M8 which runs straight past the airport, you’ll find signs directing you to one of the three car parks.
Heading on a mini-break to Rome? Park your car in the Short Stay Car Park which is only minutes away from the check-in desks. If you don’t mind a five-minute shuttle bus ride to your terminal, head for the Long Stay car park.
Even last minute holidays from Glasgow Airport are a breeze with Fast Tracking parking facilities, giving you priority through security and premium access to the terminal.
If you’re a local or are staying in the city centre, one of the easiest ways to access the airport is by the Glasgow Airport Express 500 official bus.
This connects the city centre and the airport within just 15 minutes and departs every 10 minutes. You’ll find it operating 24 hours a day, apart from on Christmas Day. There’s also Stage Coach transportation available for all major areas in Scotland.
Travelling by train? You’ll have easy access to the terminal with Paisley Gilmour Street station only a five-minute drive away. A 500 Glasgow Shuttle will then be waiting to take you directly to the airport, and then you can let the holiday fun begin.
