Book Cheap Flights from Belfast International Airport

Prince William and Kate Middleton recently flew from Belfast International Airport during their first official visit to Northern Ireland together and saw for themselves what superb facilities the airport has to offer. Belfast International Airport or "Aldergrove" as it is affectionately known began life as a Royal Flying Corps training base during the First World War. By 1934 the site had become a civil airport but with the breakout of the Second World War was again under the command of the RAF. Operations were transferred back to a civilian airport in 1963 and the first regular jet service began in 1966, passing the 1 million passenger mark in 1969. Three decades on Belfast is now the principal airport of Northern Ireland with over 5 million passengers passing through the terminal each year.

Belfast International Airport is located 18 miles northwest of the city centre with access via the M1 or M2, A57 or A56. There are regular rail links to Belfast, Londonderry and Lisburn from the nearby town of Antrim which is only 6 miles from the airport. A regular bus service is available from the front of the terminal building to Belfast, Lisburn and Londonderry.
