Mexico has always held a special place in my heart since my first trip there in 2022 to the newly renovated Bahia Principe Explore Tulum. It was finally time to return to our favourite place, and this time, we decided to stay at the Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka’an, a part of the same hotel complex with upgraded access to all of the hotels onsite – because who doesn’t love 5 hotels for the price of 1?!
While staying at Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka’an or Bahia Principe Explore Akumal, you get complete access to the resort, totalling 5 different hotels, including a brand new adult-only option for 2025. The hotels onsite are:
- Bahia Principe Explore Coba
- Bahia Principe Explore Tulum
- Bahia Principe Escape Tequila – a brand new hotel for 2025
- Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka’an
- Bahia Principe Explore Akumal
Escape hotels are specifically made for adults, which was perfect for us as we were looking for a peaceful Mexican retreat, whereas Explore hotels welcomed families and had extra facilities such as splash parks and kids clubs, which is ideal for a perfect family holiday!
Poolside Bliss

With access to 5 hotels, we truly had our pick of the bunch when it came to poolside lounging! We spent the majority of our time relaxing by Sian Ka’an’s trio of pools, which had the perfect energy and low-level buzz for us. Plus, the added bonus of palapas (thatched sun shades) scattered around the pool made it ideal for my fair skin to escape the sun!

Next up was Escape Tequila: this was a stunningly renovated pool with shallow zones and decks in the water, perfect for picking up a tan! With it being low season in Mexico, we had no issue snapping up a sunbed wherever we were.
Explore Akumal was also a top pick for us, although this wasn’t an adult-only option; there were plenty of pools to choose from, from the quiet infinity pool to the several pools scattered around the main building. The beach was only a stone’s throw away from this hotel too, with a beautiful sandy bay and a handful of tiki bars looking over the Riviera Maya coastline.
Endless Wildlife

Mexico doesn’t fall short when it comes to local wildlife. You will always see such a variety of animals when you go long haul! From iguanas and lizards wandering the jungle floor to furry favourites such as the native coatis and agoutis – you might even spot monkeys and raccoons while out and about!
Luxurious Touches
For us, we’re not too fussed about a luxurious holiday, but it’s certainly a bonus to enjoy the luxurious touches a 5-star hotel can offer! Sian Ka’an pushes the boat out, offering upgraded rooms with hot tubs and penthouse suites if that’s something you’re looking for.
As standard with your stay, no matter which room you have, you’ll have an unlimited minibar to enjoy with a range of drinks and snacks, plus a turndown service each evening, setting the bed and room ready for when you go to sleep – this was a lovely touch for us and was nice to see after we returned from the evening entertainment! Another fun addition was the golf cart transfers across the complex. Throughout your stay, you could visit the hotels and travel between them thanks to the staff who ran a golf cart system. This made visiting the other hotels and restaurants super easy!
Perfect for Foodies

While the buffet offering is rather impressive here, what sets this hotel apart from the rest is access to unlimited à la carte dining during your stay. We booked 7 different restaurants during our stay, from a mind-blowing Japanese teppanyaki experience to a sit-down steak dinner by the beach.
Alongside the à la carte options, Sian Ka’an also offers room service included in your package, plus a snack bar offering sit-down meals alongside your regular buffet hours. I definitely made the most of their French toast while I was there!
Top Notch Trips

As part of our trip with TUI, we decided to book an excursion to break up our holiday and experience something new. We’d visited one of the Xcaret parks previously called Xenses, which was amazing, so we decided to visit another park during this stay called Xel-Ha. Xel-Ha is a natural water park in Tulum, offering unlimited snorkelling and a variety of water experiences to enjoy. We upgraded on arrival to the photo pass, so we didn’t have to worry about taking photos during our trip.
Endless Memories
Mexico really is the perfect place for a holiday if you’re willing to travel further, from being able to escape on an adult-only trip or bringing everyone for a family holiday that ticks all the boxes, it’s definitely a holiday top pick for us.
