Gibraltar Holidays - A Slice Of Home With A Great Climate

Gibraltar is situated on a narrow headland linked to the end of the Iberian Peninsula by a slender sandy neck. The western Side of the peninsula comprises the town and harbour area, which is washed by the Atlantic Ocean, while the steep eastern Side overlooks the Mediterranean Sea.

Gibraltar enjoys a warm sub-tropical climate, which makes its four sandy beaches an extremely pleasant place to spend the day. The bay of Gibraltar is home to several species of dolphin that can be seen on one of the dolphin safari boats.

Holidays In Gibraltar - An Alternative Spanish Destination

Casemates square, at the end of main street in the heart of Gibraltar's shopping district is a good place to enjoy a drink in one of the bars and caf├ęs and is the location of most of the nightlife in Gibraltar. Live entertainment and great views over the bay can be found in the prestigious international casino Gibraltar.

Being a British colony the cuisine of Gibraltar has a hint of British tradition, with a lot of pub meal style dishes and fish and chips. High quality Indian, Italian, French, Moroccan and Chinese restaurants and a handful of Spanish tapas vendors add a little variety to the gastronomy.

Attractions Of Gibraltar Holidays

This small strip of land has had a somewhat turbulent political history with various occupants that have left their mark. Gibraltar holidays are not known for their historical sights, although there is a well-preserved Muslim bathhouse in the Gibraltar museum. Unfortunately very little else remains of the country's Spanish and Islamic architecture.

A well-known feature of Gibraltar holidays is the resident Barbary macaques, a type of monkey from North Africa. The Barbary macaques are the only primates living wild in Europe and it's said that when these inquisitive little creatures leave, Gibraltar will cease to be British.

Take the cable car up to the top of the rock to see these fascinating animals. Shopping in British high street shops at tax-free prices is another highlight of Gibraltar holidays.
