Bristol International Airport officially opened in 1930, at the time Bristol was only the third civil Airport in the country. During the war all Flights into London were transferred to Whitchurch. The new Airport opened in 1955 and has continued to expand throughout the decades, successfully battling its way through a dip in passengers in the 1970's. In 2001 the Airport received new owners and the name "Bristol International" and in 2002 was officially the fastest growing Airport in the country.
