Ryanair, Europe’s No. 1 airline, is taking another leap forward in its digital journey. From Wednesday 12 November 2025, the airline will become 100% digital, introducing Digital Boarding Passes (DBP) for all passengers.
That means your boarding pass will land directly in the Ryanair App when you check in online – no paper, no printing, no fuss. This new move is part of Ryanair’s ongoing mission to make air travel simpler, faster, and more sustainable!
Checking In Made Easy
Checking in will be as easy as ever:
- Head to Ryanair.com or the Ryanair App to check in.
- Once complete, your Digital Boarding Pass appears automatically in the app.
- You’ll still get handy email reminders 48 and 24 hours before your flight.
- If you arrive at the airport without checking in online, the standard airport check-in fee still applies.
In short – it’s quick, it’s convenient, and it saves time before take-off.
Why Has Ryanair Gone Digital?
Going fully digital isn’t just about keeping up with technology – it’s about enhancing your journey from start to finish. Here’s what’s in it for you:
- Lower costs and fares – less paper handling means lower operational costs and better value for passengers.
- Real-time updates – get live flight information, gate details, and notifications straight to your phone.
- Smoother travel days – faster boarding and fewer queues.
- Greener skies – cutting over 300 tonnes of paper a year means a big win for the planet.
This small switch is set to make a big difference.
How To Check In On Ryanair
- Check in online via the Ryanair website or app.
- Your boarding pass appears automatically in the Ryanair App.
- Show your pass at security and again at the gate – no printing required.
It’s designed to make your travel day quicker, easier, and completely paper-free.
What To Do If You Can’t Check In
Ryanair knows that even the most organised travellers can run into tech troubles. So, if your phone or tablet lets you down, here’s what happens:
- Lost or dead device before security: You’ll be given a free printed boarding pass at the airport.
- Lost or dead device after security: Don’t worry – staff will have your details and assist you at the gate.
- No smartphone or tablet at all? As long as you’ve checked in online, you’ll still receive a free printed pass when you arrive.
(Tip: Once checked in, your DBP is stored offline in the Ryanair App, so you can still access it without Wi-Fi or data.)
Accessibility and Special Circumstances
Ryanair’s new Digital Boarding Pass meets full accessibility standards, and special assistance remains available at all airports.
For flights from Morocco, passengers must still collect a printed boarding pass at the airport.
Check-in desks will remain open for support, ticket changes, and customer service queries.
A Smarter Way to Fly
With nearly 80% of Ryanair passengers already using digital passes, this final step brings everyone on board with a smarter, greener way to travel.
As Ryanair’s Chief Marketing Officer, Dara Brady, puts it:
“Our switch to 100% digital boarding passes will mean a faster, smarter, and greener travel experience for our customers, all streamlined through our best-in-class myRyanair app.”
So, from 12 November 2025, your travel checklist just got even simpler:
- Check in online
- Open your Ryanair App
- Fly with your Digital Boarding Pass
A small change that makes a big difference – for travellers and the planet.
