April is a good month to grab yourself a bargain as most of the European seasonal destinations that close for the winter, such as Greece, the Balearic Islands and Bulgaria, start to reopen for the summer season, giving you a much wider choice for your spring break.
Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol boast great weather in April with temperatures peaking around 27°C. With a flying time of only two and a half hours from the UK, these two Costas are a great choice for families looking for an April break with plenty of hot sunshine, good facilities for kids and a relatively short flight time.
A three-hour flight will get you to Malta, another excellent April holiday destination with temperatures beginning to rise significantly throughout the month. Malta offers so much more than just sun and sand.
The more adventurous can enjoy walks along the rugged coastline or enjoy some sightseeing trips to roman ruins, medieval castles, walled cities and churches – lots of churches! Keep the kids entertained with a visit to one of several theme parks.

If you are happy to travel a little further afield, a flight around four and a half hours will take you to popular summer destinations such as Cyprus.

With its North African climate, Egypt is generally a safe bet for good weather, although the flying time is a little longer, around six hours. Head out to Red Sea resorts where you can snorkel in the beautiful clear waters of the Red Sea, enjoy great service at some fabulous All Inclusive hotels and give yourself a good dose of truly hot weather in the April sunshine.
April is one of the quietest periods for holidays in Thailand, making it a great time to grab a bargain. Bangkok and central areas can become very hot at this time of the year so it is worth heading out to places like Krabi and Phuket where temperatures are a bit milder. Bangkok is bursting with grand palaces and amazing temples making it a perfect choice for the cultured traveller. For the beach lovers, Krabi is the place to be.
