Relaxing, Refreshing Menorca

March 20th, 2009

Me and my husband Jack took our little girl Izzy (aged 3) on a Menorca holiday last September and had a really good time. We stayed at the Vistamar Studios overlooking the beach and the beautiful Mediterranean Sea which was superb. Our room was well equipped and very clean and the maid service was excellent. All the staff were extremely friendly, the complex was always spotless and we saw that the pool was cleaned each day which was great because Izzy loved the pool. So much so that every day we had to bribe her with ice cream to get her out without tears!

The Vistamar has its own lovely restaurant. The food was all cooked to a high standard and the servings were very generous. The resort of Santo Tomas is small but does have some charming restaurants and bars, plus 2 supermarkets. Es Bruc is a lovely place to go for lunch and the food is not that expensive. All of the restaurants we saw catered for children and made a big fuss of Izzy, which she loved. The staff at the Costa Sur restaurant were especially welcoming and served up one of the best Paella’s we’ve ever tasted. The restaurant as a little playground next to it and was perfect for keeping our little one amused. There are a couple of bars in resort but overall the evening entertainment is low key. That fitted us well though. We didn’t do any excursions as we just wanted a relaxing family holiday although there were some on offer. I’d recommend Menorca package holidays for families with small children or for anyone after a quiet, relaxing break.
