Spring Hotel Vulcano, Tenerife

February 4th, 2009

We have stayed in Playa de las Americas every now and again for the last 25 years, starting off in the heart of the town as close as possible to the nightlife and slowly but surely moving slightly further out! We’re a bit long in the tooth for the night clubs now, but we still very much love Playa de las Americas. These days we just walk past Veronicas as opposed to falling out of it at 5am!

We think we have found the jewel in the crown with the Spring Hotel Vulcano. It is close enough to the strip for us to wander along and reminisce about the “good old days” yet far enough away not to be bothered by drunken partiers. The hotel has 2 swimming pools with towels provided on the sun beds, a lobby bar occasionally filled with tuneful tones from the piano, a pool bar serving snacks and a buffet restaurant with show cooking and themed evenings. The rooms are spacious and clean, and we booked our usual ‘standard’ room. The facilities are suitable for us and include a mini bar and tranquil piped music.

Mount Teide

Mount Teide

Over the years we have sampled most of the trips so tend just relax these days rather than venturing out and about. We still often enjoy going up the beautiful Mount Teide though. We haven’t been to the new Siam water park, though we visited Aqualand many times in the past.

We really would wholly recommend the Spring Hotel Vulcano to those wanting to take Playa de las Americas at a slightly more leisurely pace and would say don’t be put off by the party atmosphere of this town, it is a beautiful place and well worth a visit.
