Sometimes, all you need is a few days of sunshine, great food and uninterrupted conversations with your best friend. As two busy mums, we were more than ready for a child-free escape, and a long weekend in Kos turned out to be exactly what we needed.
From poolside cocktails to picturesque walks into Kos Town, here’s everything we got up to during our three-night stay at the lovely TUI SUNEO Niriides Beach.
Flying from Manchester to Paradise

Our trip started at Manchester Airport with an afternoon flight to Kos. We were pleasantly surprised to discover we’d be travelling on a Dreamliner, always a bonus! The extra legroom made the journey even more comfortable, and having movies and TV shows available on the seat-back screens helped the flight fly by.
By the time we arrived at our hotel, it was quite late in the evening, but the warm welcome from reception instantly made us feel at home. They even had sandwiches and bottled water waiting for us, which was such a thoughtful touch after a day of travelling.
A Scenic Stroll into Kos Town

We couldn’t wait to explore, so the next morning we were up bright and early and set off on foot towards Kos Town. The walk took around 30 minutes, but it was incredibly scenic and a lovely way to get our bearings before spending the rest of the weekend exploring.
After wandering through the streets, browsing the shops and soaking up the relaxed atmosphere, we headed back to the hotel. And that’s when our holiday got even better. The lovely receptionist told us we’d been lucky enough to receive a complimentary room upgrade! Safe to say, we were absolutely delighted.

With the excitement over, it was time to do what we’d come for, relax. We claimed our sunbeds, ordered our first cocktails of the holiday and spent the afternoon enjoying everything the hotel’s All Inclusive package had to offer. Having unlimited drinks, snacks and meals available whenever we fancied them made the whole experience feel completely stress-free and was definitely worth it.
That evening, we headed to a beautiful seafront restaurant in Kos Town. Watching the sun begin to set while enjoying delicious Greek food was the perfect way to end the day. My friend chose a perfectly cooked steak, while I couldn’t resist ordering a traditional chicken gyros.
Pool Days Done Properly

Day three was exactly what every girls’ getaway should be. Lazy mornings by the pool, plenty of sunshine, cocktails appearing almost as quickly as we could finish them and, of course, a trip to the local supermarket for those all-important holiday snacks. Somehow crisps, sweets and chocolate always taste better abroad!
That evening, we decided to enjoy dinner back at the hotel before taking a leisurely stroll around the marina. As the boats gently bobbed on the water and the evening atmosphere came to life, it reminded us why Greek islands are such a perfect destination for a relaxing escape.
We rounded off the evening back at the hotel with a few more drinks before spending hours sitting on our balcony chatting, laughing and listening to the entertainment below. Sometimes it’s those simple moments that become your favourite holiday memories.
One Last Wander Before Home

Sadly, our final day arrived all too quickly. After packing our cases and checking out, we made the most of every last minute by heading back into Kos Town for a spot of souvenir shopping.
The Municipal Market was full of charming stands, while the surrounding streets were packed with independent shops selling everything from handmade gifts to traditional Greek treats. We also stopped to admire the beautiful White Steps of Kos, which made for the perfect photo opportunity.
One stop on our shopping trip was particularly special for me. Four years earlier, while pregnant with my eldest daughter, I visited a little boutique and bought a beautiful dress for her to wear after she was born. Fast forward to today and I’m now a mum of two. I couldn’t leave without returning to the very same shop to buy matching dresses for both of my daughters. It was such a lovely full-circle moment and one I’ll always remember from this trip.

After shopping until we dropped, we rewarded ourselves with one final meal by the seafront. We were clearly making the most of it because we’d ordered so many delicious dishes that the staff assumed we were expecting more people to join us!
With full stomachs and a few final hours left, we headed back to the hotel for one last afternoon beside the pool, a couple more cocktails and a final dose of Greek sunshine before our transfer arrived.
Would I Recommend Kos?
Without hesitation, yes. Kos offers the perfect mix of relaxation, beautiful scenery and plenty to explore, making it ideal whether you’re travelling as a couple, with family or, like us, enjoying a well-earned girls’ getaway.
Our stay at TUI SUNEO Niriides Beach ticked all the boxes. The friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere, fantastic All Inclusive offering and easy walk into Kos Town made it a brilliant base for exploring the island while still enjoying plenty of downtime.
As mums, we returned home feeling genuinely refreshed, something that’s quite rare! Between the sunshine, delicious food, endless cocktails and uninterrupted conversations, it was exactly the reset we both needed.
Now… who’s planning the next girls’ trip?
