Once upon a time it was a sleepy Cyprus fishing village, but during the 1990s Aiya Napa rapidly mushroomed into a massive clubbing destination to rival Ibiza, attracting hardened party goers of all stripes. It soon became known as the home-away-from-home of the UK Garage scene and while dance music crazes may come and go, the resort continues to buzz, thanks to an increasingly wild, weird and wonderful mix of club nights. Read on for where to head to experience the cream of the nightlife in Ayia Napa…
Think you’ve had a rough night? Think again, as you’ll see some truly horrific sights on this huge event which claims to be ‘the biggest end of the world crawl’, held every Monday night. Thousands of revellers slap on their best fake blood and tattered rags to shamble about in a unique carnival atmosphere, taking in brain jelly shots, Armageddon party games and general arm-gnawing mayhem.
The Blue Moon Club
The Blue Moon is one of Ayia Napa’s quirkier night spots, originally aimed at Scandinavian clubbers it now attracts a more international clientele. Bar staff gleefully throw themselves into proceedings here, with outlandish costumes and hair raising fire shows, especially on its regular theme nights, such as Masquerade Wednesdays, Friday Night Fool Moon Parties and Playboy Bunny Night.
One of the resort’s biggest clubbing behemoths, Club Ice is famous for its riotous foam parties and celebrity guest appearances from the likes of DJ Tim Westwood, Gaz from Geordie Shore and Joey Essex. Radio 1Xtra has a strong presence there and with international promos from the likes of Luck & Neat, Heartless Crew and Twice as Nice you can expect the biggest party bangers from the worlds of grime, hip hop and urban music. If all that sounds a tad too tame for your taste, then check out their regular UV Paint Parties where you can’t fail to get yourself noticed.
The doors here open at 10pm and remain firmly wedged open long past sunrise and into the following morning. With its twinkly tree lights and illuminated swimming pool, there’s a slightly more chilled vibe than most, but it’s not always as laidback as the name might suggest. If you’ve come to Ayia Napa looking for drinking games and wet t-shirt bikini parties then you’re in the right place alright!
Fantasy Boat Party
Who says that the fun has to stop during the day? Captain Jack Sparrow will see that you get your sea legs, no matter how legless you plan to get on board the Fantasy Boat Party. The brightly painted cruiser sets sail at 4pm every day during July and August for its five hour party trip. The boat plays host to dancefloors above and below deck rammed with revellers, pumping out waves of drum n bass, funky house and old skool classics guaranteed to raise a smile.
