Holidays to this hotel start from only
The Villa Rafaella is in a beautiful rural setting in the steep hillsides of Prina – if the steep driveway up to the villa doesn’t take your breath away, the views certainly will. If you enjoy that real ‘away from it all’ feeling then this villa is definitely for you. The beach, restaurants and bars are just a 15 minute drive away so easily reachable, but you’ll enjoy the luxury and privacy of just you and your loved ones. Comfortably sleeping 4, it’s a great destination for a family retreat or group of friends, plus with an open-plan, fully-equipped kitchen, you’ve got everything you need for a fun week in the sun. The private swimming pool is surrounded by a tiled terrace with sun loungers and sweeping views across Prina – great for some impressive photos! What’s more, with a barbecue included you can enjoy some delicious al fresco dining breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Unsurprisingly, Crete is one of the most popular destinations among the Greek Islands offering the perfect blend of beaming sunshine, fun excursions and incredible views. It’s a great destination for everyone, whether travelling as a family or with your friends and the Villa Rafaella would make a great base to explore Crete from – and even a spot of island hopping.
Crete has a rich history – once being the centre of ancient Minoan civilization – and you can see traces of this still today. Head to the Palace of Knossos to see the largest archaeological site in Crete, or Chania and Aghios Nikolaos to see Greek mythology come alive. For example, head to the cave where Reah stashed baby Zeus or the bay where Athena bathed – whether you believe it or not, they’re pretty cool to see.
Adrenaline junkies are covered in Crete too. Home to a handful of theme parks, there’s plenty of spots to get that rush all day long. Take Limnoupolis Water Park in Chania – it’s 65 acres of rides, shoots and lazy rivers for a jam packed day of fun. In Hersonissos you’ll find a variety of water parks like the Star Beach Waterpark, and Acqua Plus Waterpark, and even the Labyrinth Waterpark which has its own mini golf course!
Head out on a day of hiking across Crete’s beautiful landscape. In particular, the Samaria Gorge is a popular hike and is the longest in Europe at 18 kilometres! You can take part in guided tours here where you’ll go by car to the top of the gorge, and then descend to the waterfront. Remember to take your camera as you’ll capture some seriously impressive shots.
One of the most popular Greek islands to visit on holiday, Crete has earned its reputation as a beach paradise with gorgeous shores, mountain landscapes and wild nightlife. If that's not enough, the food is phenomenal and there's temple-loads of history here too - after all, this is the fabled birthplace of Zeus. Holidays to Crete offer a combination of views, experiences and foods that make it a destination like no other.
